Cheers for the condolences everyone. I do feel sorry for the Saint as I believe he is in tip top shape and being overlooked for world cross is a little harsh but I think for myself I'll just take it on board and use it as motivation to train that little bit smarter/harder/faster and hopefully by this time next year, we'll be the ones leading the charge around Mt. Stromlo.
Like Long Arms said, this is a good wake up call for us to get out there and keep doing what we do in the hope that we'll continue to get faster and faster. Sure I was disappointed when we weren't selected, but I'm not going to dwell on it... onwards and upwards.
As for Nipper, that is pretty rough. He is a massive talent and the trip would have been great for his development as an athlete and integration into senior ranks but I suppose the selectors thought otherwise.

The 4 kids and Mo (my assistant coach) are all over the moon about their selection for Jordan which is great. Ben and Tim are certainly down in the dumps today, understandably so. I am sure Cllint Perret is down today as well. All those guys were very competitive in the trial and there was a massive gap back to the next runners. I will help them channel their energy in positive ways in order to excel at their next missions, namely fast 5kms for Ben and marathons for Tim and their ommisions will be in their best interest as 2009 progresses. A good wake up call that there is more hard work to be done.

extremely disappointed not to see a full team going in the mens.
just wondering if nipperess has performed in cross country season before? 14.04 is brilliant but 8km cross country can be alot different to 3/5km on track

Great attitude. I echo everyone else's comments and was very surprised and disappointed for those involved that only 3 males were selected. When you consider how much hard work people put in it's tough to be denied the opportunity.
Staying positive and using it as motivation is defenitely the way to go. There's nothing better than seeing someone quietly go about there business and then just giving selectors a polite, knowing nod as they cross the finish line a winner in a year or two!
Keep it up!
