Racing flats do not offer the cushioning or support of training shoes. In short, if you do lots of miles in racing flats you increase the chances of injury. Further, racing flats are generally only suitable for runners who are extremely biomechanically efficient. I would strongly recommend against buying racing flats to train in. If you do require a neutral training shoe and have fixation upon the asics brand then Nimbus or similar would be a good choice. Alternatively, if you discover that you require a more supportive shoe then Kayano or my personal favourite the 2140 or similar would be shoes to consider.
Good luck and buy whichever shoe type suits you best, do not buy according to brand.
