Good Luck to all tomorrow, like Prostiak, I am viewing the CBA HM as a training run for the main show, the GCHM. Forecast is still looking good, 3 to 16, fine and sunny.

I had a good run, 92.03 I think. A PB for me and it felt comfortable all the way, except for the last couple of kms when I decided I might as well make myself uncomfortable and picked it up a bit.
Thanks to all the organisers and volunteers and everyone who helped make it possible.

Catgirl,
well done on your personal best, I too got a PB with 110:44? Not quite the 105 I was after, however still very happpy.
I ran the first 14 km at just over 5 per minute but faded after that. After that hill around Blackmountain I found the going a bit tough.
I think this was the best run Canberra hm I've been in with an extra 1 or 2 drink stations and the food and drink at the finish line was really well organised.
Great job and well done to the organisers

Had the usual poor start which meant a bit of weaving early through the field so passed catgirl & allrounder in the first 3kms. Thought it was going to be a bad day as I had a severe case of the dropsies with the drink sachets at the first couple of drink stations. Didn't have any time to cry over spilt sports drink today...
Lucky not to end up on the ground near the 7K mark, runner in front of me fell over after stepping on uneven asphalt on the LH side of the bike path. Saw the officials at the drink station about 100m ahead heading back towards him.
Did a PB of 98:xx (first time under 100 min) and sliced around 6 minutes off my previous PB for the distance. Met up with allrounder and catgirl after the event. Congratulations catgirl on your PB. Thanks to the organisers as well.
So it was a good time for me, nearly as good as what I could hear was happening in one of the rooms in the motel I stayed in around 7am this morning.

I hadn't done much running since the Canberra Marathon so I was afraid I was a bit underdone. I needn't have worried, I felt good throughout and picked up the pace for the last 2k. My goal was sub 2 hours and did it comfortably with 1:57:xx

Don't get me wrong, the course was beautiful (I had plenty of time to soak up the scenery as I hobbled around it) and the weather was PERFECT. I was that guy on the side of the road (well more than a few times) at the 4.5k mark, realizing my chances of a PB were DONE. My quad completely seized up on me. I think I strained it mildly during the week on a tempo run or something and I felt a little tweak in it the day before but I was stretching it out well and was well hydrated and everything. I warmed up well before the race and it felt great for the first few k, then I felt a little pinch and then the whole damn thing just went. I've never felt pain like that before when running. Little things I can deal with. I can run through the pain of IT band stuff but this was EXCRUCIATING. I managed to start a little walk after a while and then a jog, but then any hill would just give me fits and I'd have to stop and stretch it out (which was painful in and of itself!) and then start slowly again. Instead of 1:27 and a PB it was 1:53 or so... but I still got a medal!

Nah I started out SLOWER than my goal pace for the first 7k... and I was waiting to see my gf pass and try and run with her for a bit. But when she did pass I tried to go with her but couldn't at that point. That was the most frustrating running experience yet! But it was still a great day! Both my GF and good buddy did great! My buddy is about 5'10, 190. Often gets mistaken for a footy player, but he's just a good ole Canadian Boy that played a lot of hockey. He mostly does bodybuilding but decided to run this race with us, trained for about a month, maybe 3 - 4 runs per week and finished in 1:38! Unbelievable.

You weren't far behind me, I neally ran into the back of a guy who decided to stop running and bend over for a stretch, might have been you? Anyway well done in finishing the race under the circumstances.

Red hat, red shirt? Probably me, I didn't see too many others in the same brutal shape I was in... I apologize for that.

Not a very good time though so I might just keep it to myself
Unfortunately I didn't get my goal time... I was doing well and at half way I was right on track, but around 15k it all just blew up (ankle pain and just generally feeling yuck) but I'm still happy with a PB and overtook about 5 people on the last km which made me feel good (I almost never overtake people!)

I was aiming at 105min, and was running on time till around the 14 km mark. Maybe one too many hills and legs weren't operating as effeciently as they were wobbling all over the place etc.

Thanks for tracking down the dates for next years Canberra HM; I want to run my first half early next year - I might end up doing the Weston Creek Half in March with Canberra as the back up plan.
