Its time for some new shoes and i am thinking of changing from Nike Structure Triax (i am an over pronator). the 12s are out and the $200 price tag is stretching me in the current climate. I need to buy 2 pairs so I am looking at something else.

I know asics are around the same price but i have never looked into other brands before.

Can someone recommend something cheaper from another brand? ie reebok, myzuno, brooks?? and a rough idea of price.

Asics 1130/1140 are a decent and cheap support shoe. Worth trying on at least. Can be found for as little as $100 on sale.

I went from Structure Triax to Brooks Adrenaline GTS. Took some getting used to them not being as soft as the Nike but I really like them. Also really like the Mizuno Wave Inspire which are a bit softer than the Brooks. Not sure how much they are at the moment but should both be less than $200

Both Mizuno Inspire and Brooks Adreneline are RRP $200 - same as Structure Triax.

If you liked the Structure and looking for a cheaper option - try Zoom Elite $180 or Span at $160 - both designed for mild over pronation....

There are some running stores which sell below RRP- where do you live????

Zoom Elite isn't as supportive as the Structure Triax. I'm not sure the span is as much of a shoe. I went from the Triax to the Nike Equalon and the Asics Gel 3000. Neither would be cheaper than the triax.

thanks guys

i am in Melbourne, Prahran, but I would hope to get the shoes from footlocker as i have a $50 and a 20% off voucher.

You probably all know what this feeling, but I am really hesitant to change as I have had masive problems with shin splints in the past because i over pronate and the structure has fixed that. but as I am getting into running more and more my shoes are wearing faster and this time i am getting 2 pairs to cycle. i dont wanna waste money buying a pair that will give me probs, but I also cant afford to keep buying structures.

If you want to stick with your old faithful Structures you can buy from the following FootLockers stores in Melbourne: Melb. Central, Swanston St, High Point, Chadstone, Southlands, Doncastor, Fountain Gate & Dandenong

The Smith St Collingwood Nike outlet currently has 40% off heaps of runners. Yesterday I bought a pair of Zoom Elites marked down from $150 to $90. Probably worth a try.

collingwood is a great idea - you can get brooks adrenaline for $150 ish at the brooks outlet, which is great, i picked up a pair of adidas supernova sequence for $70 a few days ago at the outlet there, just to rotate my asics out with. sorry it doesn't assist with footlocker though

Structure triax is similar function wise (not feel wise though...) to Brooks Vapor (rrp 160), Saucony Omni (190 rrp), asics 1140 (169). As mentioned, the zoom elite is not the same...more like what the DS trainer is to the 2140...the zoom elite is to the Structure.

If you have been happy and injury free however, the $40 you may save will be only half the consultation fee of a physio/podiatrist if you become injured with a shoe change...maybe the false economy approach!
