I noticed that entries open on 1 March. Link here. Is anyone planning on doing this race at this early stage? I would like to but probably won't have room in the budget. Maybe next year. Maybe I will do the Sprintman instead.

Just a minute... aren't you a little bit concerned about that 1.9km swim?

I am interested in the Sprintman, however last year I went into hibernation over winter and therefore hadn't trained enough in time for it.

I do have almost 8 months to train for it! But yes, I am concerned

that's plenty of time.

I introduced a friend to triathlon in November. He could hardly swim 50m in a pool. His first race was an enticer at Penrith, he almost didn't make the 300m swim. He went to the pool 3 times a week. We did a couple of open water swims together at Bondi.

I got him to enter Jervis Bay LC last week end. He told me he would be a dnf because he wouldn't make the 1hr cut off for the swim. he came out of the water in 46mn and had a ball!

If you want, you can!

I am planning to do it definitely.

It is the only Half that I have never been to so have to add it to the list

I think I have a score to settle with this race

But at this stage I am not sure if I will do Gold Coast HIM again or aim for Foster LC instead.

Hmmmm

I have no idea why swimming 1.9k in 8 months time bothers you when you're doing 1.5k in a month at Mooloolaba! Personally with your fitness level just ease your way through the swim and you'll be fine. In saying that, I can't say I'm not concerned about my 1.5k at Mool but in the end I' know I'll do it fine.

I'm thinking of the GCHIM next year.

And don't forget breast stroke and backstroke (it's like floating) if your tired.

It's a goal race for me this year. not that i've started training for it yet. will start after GCM.

Also got a score to settle and hoping to improve by 30mins this year, which is a lot.

Great singlet and towells from these

I want to do Sprintman again this year, but do it in my AG (30-34! eep!) instead of as a Clydesdale. I will still qualify to do it as a Clydesdale, but won't enter as such. Be my first Tri where I have a time to beat
