Did anyone see the flyer at Raby Bay this weekend for the 24 hour "see how many short courses you can do in 24hrs "
It was 99$ entry - during queens birthday long weekend in june
300mtr swim, 10k ride, 3k run, repeat as many times as you can over a 24 hour period.
Swim was ina heated pool
I figure hey great - take a picnic to eat in transition and go the whole 24hrs.
There was a 6hrs option "for those who just want to have some fun"

Yeah I've got the flyer in my car and was thinking of putting together a team for it. Looks like it would be a great event to get into.

Isnt one of the reasons the swim is done first to minimise the risk of DROWNING after exerting yourself in the other disciplines.
There would be a high risk as fatigue sets in later in the event, I wonder how the organisors were able to get around duty of care
Will they have many life guards in the pool, come to think of it cycling late in the event could be thrawt with risk too. As is often teh case in ultra running events competitors are known to take cat naps while still running, hate to think what might happen if that happened on the bike. Having said these things I still think it would be an interesting event, but curious just the same

I like the sound of this.
It is a very interesting and novel concept. I certainly haven't seen anything even vaguely similar before.
I don't think there are too many real safety concerns. A pool swim would have to be fairly safe. Yes, the odd person may fall asleep on the bike, but, surely, hasn't that happened to all of us at one time or another?

I think Im gonna enter the 24hrs but i'll probably pull out after 6 or so , i dont see any disadvantage in entering 24hrs because its same cost etc as the 6hrs
i like the idea of doing this and pushing the endurance and the fact it doesnt involve any huge swim leg distance in one go.
I think if you get screwed in the pool you just stand up or get to the side - its a lot safer than being inthe ocean in middle ofa 4k leg and gettng fatigued

Brett,
24H MTB are very common, accepted and established,
some in the rough forest with sharp bends and descents - so
if that is ok,
or the cycling ultra in France of some 1200 (?) kms, 2-3 nights in a row and that is OK,
surely, this little thingie is not aan issue.
before each 10 km of cycling You will wake up in the water having a bath in cold pool, so You not fall asleep...
the shortness of its legs does not alow for the monotomy
and if You will not induce koma by dringing some sugar-ade, the slep issue should not arise.
I am wondering if they plan to stay 24H in wett undies, or if they will keep changing
and if there would be viewing platform for ladies transition area.
