Congratulations to Collis.
However this is 2009, he & and the modern day Aussie athlete still has big shoes to fill. For example.
Ron Clarke
Edited to fix link
Edited again, to add IAAF link to Collis' profile and P.Bs and progression.

Great run by Collis, and from all reports far from perfect conditions. A 40sec pb at that level is amazing. Big pb by Michael Shelley, a brilliant racer who smashes himself to a stand still and seems to improve every time he races. Very pleased to see Ben back up so well after last week in windy conditions to confirm his rise in class. Tamsett finishing off a great trip with another big pb by 29sec.

Enjoy the moment Thomo, it doesn't happen every day. I think Clarke held it for more than 30 years? and Creighton for 13 years, so it's a great day for athletics.

Michael Shelleys time sees him edge ahead of Dave McNeill and Rob De Castella on the all time list.

Great race by Collis.
The 10,000 is a tough event. Would have ranked 45th best performance for 2008, but 3rd "non-African".

Nearly 5 seconds faster than Mottram's pb, and coupled with his victory over Mottram at Melbourne last year, could this signal a changing of the guard? ...or is it a matter of horses for courses, with Mottram still the man at 5000m?
He has talked at various stages about moving up to even the marathon later in his career, it would be interesting to see first if he can match Collis at the 10,000m.

Forgot to mention. Birmingham also claimed the Oceania record as a result of this run.
IAAF has already updated the list.
OCEANIA 27:29.73 Collis Birmingham 27/12/1984 AUS Berkeley, CA 24/04/2009

Great run by Collis. Mottram has had a number of attempts on getting this record and missed. Collis has shown great range this season with 3:37, 13:16 and now 27:29.
Also great run by Shelly with another B qualifier. It now makes an interesting situation with McNeil selected in 10km for world champs but only ranked 3rd Aussie on times.
Lara had a great run with another big Pb and has had a great trip.
Ben has confirmed his new level with another great run in windy conditions. He also claimed some great scalps in this race with a number of Olympians finishing behind him.
