Hi all,

I have decided to aim for the Blackmores Half Marathon and went onto their site and looked at the training program - I am looking at the intermediate program (had to put in my details and fitness level) and was wondering if this program is okay. I am sure it is fine otherwise it wouldn't be on there but with so much experience on this site I thought I would ask the question? Wasn't sure whether to do this or find a Pat Carroll program??

Thanks in advance,

Rach :LMAO:

Hi Rach

I haven't looked at either of the programs but If it's your first Half Marathon I suggest gradually building up your longer run's to ensure your comfortable running the 21km distance on the day. You could try a mixture of runs from the intermediate program and a easier Pat Carroll program's to start with. You'll soon know which you feel more comfortable with.

Cheers

The Sydney Running Festival will be my first HM. I, too looked at their intermediate program and have started following it. I only started this week which is actually Week 3 but have been running for a short while so it seemed OK to start at week 3. I've looked through the program and it seems fairly straight forward to follow, with a gradual increase in distance and a mix of long and short runs/jogs.

From reading other forums on the CR site it seems that its important to gradually increase your long runs each week. I'm planning on following the program but as the weeks progress adjust it to suit how I'm feeling.

Good luck and I might see you there.

I agree with all above - it does seem gradual and I too will adjust if necessary. Good luck to you and hope to see you there. Enjoy the training.
