Further to the post asking about fastest 1ks, I'd like to know what times people started out running??

Having previously just run long and slow, I've recently joined a club. I'm loving working out with talented people and an inspirationally dedicated coach... I kinda approached it thinking I'd enjoy the increased fitness and would benefit from challenging myself, not with any visions of trying to be a contender... but their enthusiasm for racing is contagious!

So, following on from that other post, I'd be interested to hear from people who haven't always trained as short distance runners. What times did you start out running? And where have you ended up? I'm looking for inspirationally large improvements :D

My first attempt at a 1500 in early 07 ( age 12 ) was 5:47 and i can now do 4:14
and around the same time i was a 3min 800 runner and can now do 2:06.
at age 12 my 3k was over 14 minutes and just recently i broke 9 minutes ( age 14 )
P.S i realise that these sort of breakthroughs are because i am still growing,
but still not bad improvement i think :)

:D im impressed
