New Balance has struck again. Today i went to pick up my new New Balance 904s. These are the new models replacing the old 903s. The 903 was a beautiful light weight trainer with a large toe box. This shoe was probably the most compfortable shoe i have ever owned being a great racing shoe for me from 5k to the marathon. Well imagine my anger when i slipped on the new shoe to discover a totally different shoe to the old one. The new 904 is much firmer with hardly any cushioning and a lot narrower in the toebox. What really annoyed me was that i contacted New Balance, asking where i could purchase the new pair. I spoke to a rep who assured me that there was no difference in the new shoes! He also tried to get me to buy them online without trying them on. I am so lucky i didnt. I know there have been thousands of threads regarding this topic but i really needed a whinge. This really makes me angry :D

In the interests of restoring you to a state of oneness with the universe, I offer you this advice:

Treat this as good news. You will now be able to buy 903s on eBay at a price that has been pushed down by the release of the 904s.

This is your lucky day!

I have Brooks for track, Nike for training, Asics flats! And it keeps changing New Balance stopped making the Flats I used before so changed to the best I could find this time - real pain though - they think changing the style will be a benefit for them - not from me!

Couldn't agree more - used the 903s last year in a couple of marathons and half-marathons and found them to be terrific. The 904 is a mess. ..

Only just saw your post - Brooks X1 (with the insoles out) - nice and flexible and low to the ground :-)
