Birmingham's run only goes to show how good Mottram is compared to other Australian 5000m runners!

Birmingham's 13:14.53PB was a good run but you'd have to think the best he is capable of at the moment given 12 athletes finished in front of him who could have pulled him along to an even faster time.

The race was won in 13.04.87, a time that would have had Mottram salivating over the lead not finishing back in 13th!

All credit to Collis though for the fantastic improvement curve he is showing. Let's hope he can keep going to Mottram's level.

yeah but times can be deceptive. It depends alot on the pace and given so many races are won from fast kickdowns after a slow pace, you need the perfect race to do your best. he will get there, he still has a few years left dont worry about that. Good job Birmingham.

Great running for all the boys. Risely looked great in the Mile.

Well said young fella...as happenned in Beijing where Mottram was not "salivating over the lead" but got burnt in the kickdown.
