Is that the foot problem you have from clipping the wrong shoes into the wrong pedals?
Good to see you'll be there again this year. Barring a bout of diptheria, I'll be lining up. Hope we get a few of those on the short-list for Noosa coming down instead

StellaBella - I believe there is a 5k race on Saturday afternoon.
The Balance Crew will be there in force. I'm just trying to sort accommodation for a few of us.
Really looking forward to this race as it one of the many races I like to do along the road to IM in December.
Cheers!

Well I shall have to wait and see how my motivation goes...
I cld just stick to beer drinking, yelling, screaming, pom pom waving and boob flashing... not that I'd do anything like that!

Not me mate. Was a guy from our club. Did it in a club race and then again at club champs. We are thinking of getting a big black texta and writing L & R on the shoes so he knows what side to put them on.
Mines a little more serious than that. Ultrasound in the morning will give me a better idea as to whats going on!!

My boyfriend is competing at Hawaii, so I'm trying to keep a lid on my overwhelming EXCITEMENT for my 1/2 IM debut! After all, it's not every day I get to go to Hawaii to watch my sweetheart compete at the IM world championships!! Aaarghh it's just too much!!
And I definitely won't say that I'm stressing about having 10 days (and potentially 400+ km's ) away from the bike while over there... Sshhh - it's not on my mind...

Just turn up race fit and things like the elements and temperature and terrain will have a lot less impact on you. Too many people worry about the parts of their race day that they cannot control instead of focusing on the things they can control.
I've raced early spring races where it is 5*C and other races where it is 34*C. You just have to be mentally prepared for whatever is thrown at you on the day.
A few years ago it rained all the way to Port all weekend including during the whole 1/2 Ironman race and all the way back to home. Prior to that weekend I don't think I had seen rain for about 2 months. Back home the local bike shop poured 1lt of water out of my bike.

As B+ wrote. worry about what you can control, not what you can't.
Turn up ready to race and what will be will be.

I can understand your point, why don't you look to drive down a warmer area for a weekend session or two if other stuff in life permits it?
I've actually done the hell run to Port down a few sessions and come home. Left saturday morning drove up did a bike run brick, sunday swim run and the drove home.
You could look at what's closest to you such as Penrith or Tamworth?!?!?

Ratty, you are a machine!! Thats an awesome time for the 100k. With a bike split like that you could walk the run and still beat a 5:10!!!!

Ratdog you are going to smash it, that's an awesome 100km TT. Are you riding a TT bike?
Great kit, runbike. I'm sure I won't be seeing you before the finish, either!
Good luck to all with a week of taper to go
Edited to add: and Miners, I thoroughly enjoyed swimming the Kona swim course every morning... wow, isn't it just gorgeous. Certainly beats staring at a black line

And Ratty, slow down on that bike all right? You're going to put us all to shame. I went out for a test of the playground-knee this morning - 92km/5km brick and I'm still walking with two more-or-less functioning legs. So I'm in - want to at least validate to leave the IM options open
