I am about to start a half marathon training program using nike+ coach.
Just wondering if anyone has used this program or is currently using it.
If so what are your thoughts?

Hi WA,

I looked at it at one stage, but it didn't at the time have a mixture of session types.

I think most people would say its important to have a variety of sessions, like hills, long slow runs, shorter quick runs, tempo runs.

I followed the program (more or less) that was on the GC marathon website to train for my first HM this year and found it pretty good. I think you can still go on and download the sessions, maybe you could look at those?

I still wore my nike+ thingo so I could keep track of how many sessions I'd done and approximate distance. Bear in mind the distance calculation tends to get a bit mucked up when you do speed sessions, so I would say you should use it as a guide only.

Cheers,

Clinton

Thanks for your response Clinton. I see what you mean by the lack of mix in the sessions. I find it does suit me as it is as all I want to do now is get more distance to start with. I am not attempting my first half till May so I have plenty of time. I had a look at the GC Marathon programs and they do look good and will probably do that program after I finish the nike + one.
