CLA - conjugated linoleic acid

Apparently is an essential fatty acid that helps with weight loss?
It is a supplement that is taken while a person is on an exercising regime - losing more body fat over a 12 week period.

Does it work? and where do you get it?

You can read plenty of studies, from its manufacturers, that indicate that it's very effective.

Then you could read studies such as this from The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, that indicate that it's not.

If you're not worried about possible oxidative stress and reduce insulin sensitivity (pre-cursor to diabetes), go for it. What's a little risk, eh?

On the other hand, eating less food works well too.

Sorry, saw the title and got a bit confused.

CLA also stands for Caseous Lymph Adenitis http://www.dpi.nsw.g...heesy-gland.pdf otherwise known as Cheesy Gland in sheep.

It's a bacterial disease where the lymph nodes swell up into pus-filled abscesses that if one dipped a Jatz Cracker into, would probably result in the same effect....weight loss due to chronic vomiting. An unorthodox means of weight control.

never heard of it.. just make sure you do your research about the product first.. as bellthorpe alluded to, look for more than what the manufacturers say or cite.. in saying that, just because there are no rock solid double blind randomized controlled trials to PROVE that it works doesn't mean that it doesn't..  all it means is exactly that, that there haven't been any rock solid double blind randomized controlled trials PROVING that it does  :o

good luck with it

I have heard different story.

It works, but if it is eaten as part of natural nutrition,
should not work as synthetic suplemet.

It is naturaly occuring in a veg family : cabbage, brassel sprouts,.... calliflower, broccoli...

the mechanism how it works is bit long story and i ssuposed to prevent the abdominal fat buildup

(and NO, you will not fahrt it out)

I would like to give it a go... as part of my nutrition (natural foods) ... so I am interested in  the long story if you have it...
As I am not able to run run RUN... or walk walk WALK at the moment i have plenty of reading to do.
Not interested in the synthetic supplements as these cost  alot of money and no guarantees of what I am really getting,
So if I can shift a few more kg when I am back running and exercising more... all of this will give me more confidence and maybe run a little faster!

Thanks

OK, but I am making it short and skipping medical mubojumbo.

Toxic chemicals in a food chain, mainly of type of pesticides, herbicides and such,
are creating a mess in human body. 1 of the neg effect is messing up with endocrine system and the hormones regulating the fat around waist - the abdominal fat.

People who manage to get toxic free nutrition do not have these issues.

These toxins are not only on commercials vegs and fruit and in meat and dairy but are also added to nearly all manufactured products like breakfast cerials and whatever is wrapped, packed jarred etc.

Cla have the ability to countreract these toxic chemicals and clean body out of them.

So as You clean up a bit the nutrition and eat teh cabbage-broccoli type of vegs you are swinging it back to normal, the endocrine system should recover.

So You can slow down the abdominal fat depositing, stopp it or reverse it, depending on the ratios between Cla and toxins.

In my view people who are long term on clean nutrition, woulkd not see any effect, but these peole eat lots of broccoli-cabbage stuff anyway.

Those on poluted diet would probably not show any improvements on few portions of veg per week.

This is not a new stuff, but some manufacturers probably got the idea to sell tablets and claiming fat loss.

Thanks.... all of this is very very interesting and I will start to focus more on green stuff, perferably home grown!
