Hi all Coolrunners,

I used to post under the alias of "chicken" some time ago and now I'm back!
I've started a new running specialty store in Bondi Beach and we're called "The Running Company".
We do full video gait analysis and stock all the leading brands are located 1 store down from Billabong on Gould st, Bondi Beach.

We'll be holding a weekly run starting in approx 3 weeks time from the store along Bondi - Bronte path for runners of all levels.
There will also be sports med practitioners on hand to talk through any q's you may have, as well as the opportunity to trial new product
from all the leading brands and talk to their tech reps to get a deeper insight into the products they produce.
We might even head out across the road to the pub to hydrate a little, after all we'd have earned it!

Please feel free to call the store or call in any time as we're open 7 days.

Cheers!

Chicken;)

I really hope somebody deletes this user, his username is screwing up the formatting on the list of threads. Maybe change name back to chicken or re-use previous account. Because at the moment, whilst well intentioned, this fits the classic definition of spam.

Hi Chris,

I am sure that you are looking at purchasing advertising from CR - but so as to justify not deleting this post - perhaps you could offer CR an opening discount for a couple of months?

:)

Hi Ellie,

You're a mind reader!

I'm just finalising my advertising with CR right now (after my barefoot soft sand run this beautiful morning at Bondi!)

On top of:
- Free video gait analysis with every pair of shoes sold
- 2.5% of each sale going to 1 of 4 charities - which you choose
- Service from a local runner with a smile
- Free run club starting up in 3 weeks

I'll also extend 10% off everything instore to all cool runners to the end of November as an opening special!
Just mention this thread when you come in store.

On the product front, I know that the Lunar Racers are sold out at Nike, The Lunar Glide is almost sold out at The Athlete's Foot.
As a heads up, in January I will be getting the New Lunar Elite (replacing Zoom Elite) which I've been wear testing for the product design team in Oregon and it's amazing, I'll also be getting in the new Lunar Racer which has a touch more midfoot support with the same amazing cushioning.

Thank you for your support and if you or any other CR's have any Q's let me know.

Cheers!

Chris. :)

All the best with the store Chris. There is a need for better services for runners. The Sydney region does have a few good places. It would seem your concept is heading in the right direction.

Cheers mate!

I love your profile pic - remember:
"To give less than your best is to sacrifice the gift."

I was in Oregon last year and ran the hood 2 coast, amazing to get to have been back in prefontaine country.

Let me know if you need anything mate, we'll sort it out.

Talk soon!

Chicken's store will be a welcome addition to Sydney specialist running stores. There are so few of them in our big city and with so many runners here there is a big demand for this type of shop. A real real runner (eg a former winner of Adelaide Marathon in 2.40 odd) and former employee of Nike servicing keen runners.

Along with Steve at Athletic Edge, who has been doing an awesome job for years, runners out east are in excellent hands.

Is Lunar Glide being discontinued?

Wouldn't mind giving them a try, but not if they're a one-off.

(Store sounds good. I'll check it out next time I'm up in Sydney and have some spare time)

Hey team, Lunar Glide is definitely here to stay, it's just that it's been so well received that it's pretty much sold out! Currently only available at Athlete's Foot and Nike only stores nationally,
they're like hens teeth! Definitely worth chasing down as the new dynamic support system is working well on the camera. Lunar Elite is hitting in Jan and will be one of the shoes to watch. I've been weartesting a pair for the Oregon boys for the last 6 months and am still loving them. With the new Asics, Adi, Mizuno and Brooks Glycerine 8 hitting the shelves soon us runners are in for some great product innovations real soon. FYI eastern suburbs runners, sculptures by the sea is just around the corner...

Just looking to confirm that this forum and site is open for self promotion?? Im sure this would not be fair for the people that are paying for advertising.

Chris has bought advertising - unfortunately our helpers are a little under the pump and haven't had time to process his payment.

toomuchtimeonmyhands - it is very kind of you as a first time poster to be monitoring spam :) If you would like to report something please feel free to do so (you may be an existing coolrunner with a different name?)!

Everything is a judgment call. I thought that this was probably ok to stay so long as coolrunners were potentially benefiting. But if we get reports we will reconsider.

Is toomuchtimeonmy hands someone with connections in the sporting shoe and clothing industry in the area in question?

Strange 1st post.

BC , if that is the case, there could be a business opportunity to someone who is keen on setting up a specialist running store in Sydney's West. Maybe at Parramatta? Possibly at Homebush Bay? Penrith? Campbelltown? R4YL are looking at setting up a shop or two in Sydney. Anyone else?

Yeah - I'm sure there are heaps of people willing to put their hard earned into a new business & then work 7 days with no guarantee of success or even income......

After a chat with Chicken today, he is super excited about this store & his goals are definitely to provide a place where runners can find the right shoes first and foremost.
I also like the fact that even though he has just opened the doors, he already has committed to having the store as a base for a running group, but also to support some charities along the way.

Perhaps, toomuchtimeonmyhands should use some of this available time to open a store in the west to service those runners. Then they can have their own thread for a little while too......

Agree 100% Clarkey.

It's always good to see people open a business with the right intentions. Even better to support them with your custom, when you can.

I'll buy at least a couple of pairs of shoes a year from the guys at Runner's World in Kew, even though I know I can get them cheaper elsewhere. But we have such a dearth of running shops run by runners, that IMO it's well worth spending a little more sometimes to help keep their doors open.

(plus they have the best range of Mizuno apparel in Melbourne, my fave.)

Anyone thinking of opening a new dedicated running shop in St Kilda, owned and staffed by runners, just let me know, and I'll shower you with dollars.

Special thanks to my first CR customer Matt!

Hey Ingrid,

We sure are still running, getting between 15- 20 people in the winter of late.
We're a super relaxed, social run group who is more inclusive as opposed to exclusive.
Drop us a line at the store if you need any more info but we leave at 6:30pm so if you can make it to the store around 6:15-6:20 so you can meet everyone that'd be great.

Talk soon!

Chicken;)
