Goes without saying that I am racing my own home event
Saturday I am doing Traffic Control duties (somewhere) and general volunteering duties.
Looking forward to catching up with you on my patch!

You will have a blast Mouse
Unfortunately, I will not be there this year. There will however be plenty of the Balance Crew attending this event.
Enjoy your race & let us know how you go.
Cheers!

I have to say, if we get a wind here just like we have today, we can all count ouselves lucky.
It's actually blowing a gale, but straight out of the East, so it's a crosswind both ways, and I found it quite helpful going out this morning, and not a hindrance at all coming back. Usually it's a real grind coming back to town along the Lakes Way, into the stiff Nor'Easter.
I would like to see a bit more sun though, to show the place at its best!
See you all on Sunday

The rest of the bike course is dead flat.
Sorry to hear you won't be going round, Miners. I will hope for nice weather so you can put in an appearance. This race is now a bit too close to Port HIM for a lot of people to do both, eh?

Long range forecast indicates a very nice day for cheering or hosing down contestants. “A morning shower; otherwise, mostly sunny, humid and warmer. Winds from the WSW at 6 km/h. 32°C Realfeel®: 39 °C” ( wha that? Realfeel = 39? I thought the ocean would keep us cooler? )
It looks like it is going to be a slugfest against the heat for us at the BOP. I am sure a cold (ginger) beer would go down a treat at about 10am. Real beer to be enjoyed later that night

I can see the weather forecast has improved a bit though - top temp 29c now. Realfeel of 33c. Still bloody hot to run 15km in though.

When you cross the bridge, go round the roundabout and down the main street - you can't go straight ahead. Should be parking left up by the Post Office or near the cop shop in the next street.
Give us a cheer as I stagger past

Thought the run leg may have taken you across the bridge? Hadn't checked the course out, my bad
Hopefully see you all Sunday

Night_time_runner and Mouse did well. Sub 5:00:00 for both.
I hope B+ takes notice, especially for Mouse.

Thanks Thomo - I think! Had a great race but I fell apart completely at about 10km in the run, NTR caught me with about 3-4km to go and kept me going until the finish. Great day out, and fantastic dinner with Muz and Mrs Muz this evening, will definitely be back next year

Mini mouse 2 also had lots of fun, though we caught her walking and chatting on the run - just like her parents

Well done to you and NTR on a pretty tough day out. I was really tickled to see you guys running together on the final lap. Well done to you and all the Mini Mouses.
As for me, I had to be satisfied with a 4:40 thanks to foot roubles on the run and that damn heat. I had a pretty ordinary swim - although I felt really comfortable and strong - a great bike, but like Mouse fell apart on the run - although for me it was literally! My left second toe is as black as a 4B pencil and I have very little skin left on my feet right now.
And before anyone says anything about shoes, they're the same ones I ran 30km in quite happily last week. Damn sand.
Also great to catch up with Will in transition - although I couldn't catch up with him on the bike. LOL.
Thanks Mouse and NTR for a great weekend, and to all who competed - especially my Forster Club-mates - well done! The town turned on another awesome event and fantastic weather display.

Emo's crew really know how to put on great events. Thanks to him, his team and the volunteers!
First time racing in Forster and I loved the course! Nice ocean swim, very fast bike course and scenic run.
I would recommend it to anyone!
Nice to catch up with you too Muz. Nice speech at the presentation too mate! See you in Busso.
I also met Mouse somewhere on the run course!
My race started with a really bad swim but looks like it was a bit long looking at the times of others.
Great bike, I was really happy with that. It was measured at 63km I think.
Steady run
00:39/01:44/01:10 for 3:34. 46th overall, 5th in 25-29.
3 weeks to go to the big dance! Last race will be kurnell next week end and then taper!

Shame I didn't get to see the fast finishes. Nice work on your 5th placing Will! Don't hurt yourself at Kurnell.
NTR & Mouse are welcome ton go and smash themselves up completely before Nepean though

Or in my dreams??
A quick recap of the Forster tri and mini holiday ( kids and I got back today )...
The Saturday was for Sprints, Enticer and Miniman ( kids ) events. It was all very professional, slick and friendly - not an easy combination to achieve!
Our 3 kids did their events at about 9am. The 7-11year olds swam about 50 metre across the beach, about 2 metres from the edge, allowing them to stand if they needed. A great idea. Very cute. The girls were in this, both doing great and one coming first. (the only member of the family who regularly achieves this!!). Mr Jnr NTR showed great integrity in his 150mtre swim, missing the first buoy, but going back for it and picking up the pace. He too finished strong.
Sunday was the grown ups turn. The 2km swim was more then that I have been told. It felt soooo long for me. I am not a strong swimmer, and this was tough. I had a red bull before the swim, and spent the first km burping every time I came up for a breath - charming I know!!! I finally settled into rhythm with a km to go and enjoyed it then. The currents were a challenge, but that’s what it is all about right? Can’t say I enjoyed the 100metre beach run from the swim either!!
The ride was great. Pancake flat for the most part, no big drafting packs, lots of open space. I managed to keep slightly above 30km an hour for the most part, which was the goal. I ride a very short distance to work each day, but over a few nasty hills, so I stood up and attacked those slight rises (also to change my posture as much as anything) and overtook a few each time there. Despite a good, average ride (overtaking 28 people), my bad below average swim left me as a late comer to the T2.
This is where the hurt kicked in big time. A slight upper leg niggle from the bike posture was aching, it was hot (damn hot) and I was gonski (overtaken by 22 people on what I thought would be my strong leg!) I think I managed around 6min pace, walked over the rises on the bridge, hills and drink stations. I just could not move. Try as might, I just could not muster any pace. I stayed about 1km behind Mouse for most of it, only catching her when she needed a little walk break herself. That meant we got finish together, push each other along, and begin to dissect our performances together. A couple that finishes in pain together, stays together I say!!
So all up, a very hard day for me, but a great event overall. Topped off with a great dinner with Muz ( who beat me by 57 seconds! ) and Mrs Muz, and a great mini holiday. I will be back after all.
