Have you tried adding a little tea tree oil to the rinse cycle?

Just enough to make it flammable should do the trick!

Tea Tree oil directly on the affected foot works well. As for the socks I'd try a napisan with the nappy directions.

You reckon the tea tree oil mixed with the tinea might cause an explosion? ;)

But seriously, you only need to put a few mls in. I'm sure it wouldn't be enough to be flammable.

You (or he) can also try adding a little oil of cloves to the wash, which is a natural mould & mildew killer. Tinea being a fungus is just another version of them.

Also make sure that the socks and jocks are washed inside out so that the fungussy bits get best chance to be washed away.

And then, hang in the sun to dry (still inside out). Hang by the toe (socks not flatmate) with underside of sock facing the sunshine, so the most effected area gets max UV. The UV will zap the little buggers.

PS oil of cloves and water in a spray bottle is also easy way to get rid of the mould on the ceiling.

Something like this may help too: http://shop.ansco.co...p?idProduct=147 along with anti-fungal treatments. Might be expensive in the long run though...

From the list of things it does:

  • Helps restore factory applied waterproofing.

I wonder how it does that, after its been washed out previously

when i had really bad tinea (required 2 doses of prescription cream and ointment, plus some tablets to get rid of) we didnt use anything special in the wash (probably should have but didnt think of it). i havent had it agan since. we just use the earth choice detergent and softener and the napisan liquid.
