The NSW State Track and Field Relays will be held at Blacktowns Olympic Park this coming weekend.
This is the biggest Athletics Carnival put on by ANSW.
With the Commonwealth Games coming up next year there are a number of Athletes who will be making their first appearance for the season in the hope that they will be selected to Compete in India next year.
Are there any other CR's making the trip to Blacktown to watch or compete?

Hi HillsAths1 & other CR's,
I'm hoping to make it out Saturday for a look, at least for a couple of hours. Was going to have a run Sunday, but work commitments have kicked in again, maybe next year. I urge any CR's who have got a bit of time to try and make it out Saturday or Sunday as its always a top class meet with some great performances across all ages and distances and some pretty spectacular racing, very exciting.
According to the predicted temps, looks like some pretty warm conditions, so keeping hydrated wil be a priority that's for sure.
Regards

Always a great day out.
Highlight of the year for club competition.
I am sure that Bankstown will keep Hills honest.

My prediction is that UTS Norths will be the big winners on the weekend, they have entered over 115 teams.
Hills are just a little over half of that number(we are going for quality performances(except for any team that has me in it
).
I might just have to remember the old Slip Slop and slap(Thats my running action, not the anti sunburn methodology).
I am sure I will have a very sore throat by the end of Sunday.
MC look forward to catching up with you at BOP, are you doing the 3k/5k tonight at Baulkham Hills?
I should see if I can get Thommo to make a guest appearance.

Hi HillsAths1,
Thanks for that. Can't make the 3/5km tonight due to work commitments. Maybe next month.

Will have to get back there one day. It has only been something like 15 or 16 years since I last did one.

Teams are now all confirmed, lists are now available from ANSW website.
From all accounts it looks like it will be a very very hot day.
I have had parents asking me what happens if it gets too hot, I have told them that I dont think there is any rule in place regarding heat(Given that the max any one runner will be on the track per event would be 6 minutes or say 10 for a walker, it should not be too much of an issue.)
I am not sure the officials will feel the same way though.

Some great races out there at Blacktown on the weekend under pretty difficult circumstances for both athletes and officials.
The temp was pretty hot on both days, but everyone managed to get through ok.
Sunday afternoon the distance races got canned, due to the heat, this left huge gaps in the program, so most people went home.
Many thanks to all the officials and athletes who turned up for this great event, saw some great running from the 4th runner from the Athletics east team in the vets races who ran a 4.09 1500m, great stuff.
Now have a year to recover, for the next edition.
