Hi all,

Looking for a bit of information on this run. I have it in the diary as a training run in the lead up to six foot track. Has anyone run it and do you have any tips. Looking at running the 25km.

I don't know anything about it other than what's on the website.  I'll be doing it because it starts near where I live and it fits in neatly with my 6 foot preparations.

Im travelling from Sydney so trying to work out the logistics. As for the run may have to wing it on the day.

I have done the Tour De Mountain several times now.  It showcases some of the off road runs that are easily accessible from the middle of Canberra.

It runs over Mount Taylor and the Farrer and Isaacs Ridge areas.  Distances vary so you can choose something to suit your fitness and confidence level.  The long distance (26km from memory) is more challenging than say the Shoalhaven King of the Mountain but no where near as hard as the Six Foot Track.

It is run by John Harding and the Australian Mountain Running Association so is very well organised and a lot of fun.

Thoroughly recommend doing - pretty good as a lead in race to the Six Foot Track.

Pretty busy schedule with the Majura 3 peaks, the Deep Space Mountain and this one.  But I'm loving it so far.

Hopefully the DSM (I'm doing the 25km) won't be called off due to bushfire danger, which is apparently a possibility.

If you missed the Orroral Valley Classic , 20 km or the better 32 km in October, you missed a very scenic run with difficulty in Namadgi National Park. This one was also an AMRA event.

Good run the Tour de Mtn, challenging especially with Mt Taylor now first of the hills instead of last. Nice hit out the weekend before Christmas.

Worth the trip from the sounds of it. Looking forward to the hitout just before Xmas.

How does the terrain for the 17 km compare to say running the Canberra Bush Marathon 25km or the Orroral Valley 20km?

A few of us from work are going to give it a go - I'm looking forward to it! The 6:30 start time is actually rather appealing at this time of year...

I'm getting a bit excited about it.  I was just having a look at the entry list and it looks like there will be a bit fo talent on display.

I have bumped this thread to see if anyone has any info on this year's event in 18/12/11 although something tells me I may be working.
The Mountainrunning website has no link to this race on the calendar. Thanks.

Approval from the Nature Park management has just come through for new courses which eliminate major road crossings by using underpasses. The new event is called Tour de Ridges as Mt Taylor is no longer included because of the road crossing issue. Online registration will be posted very soon. Distances are 21.3k (Farrer, Wanniassa Hills and Isaacs ridges), 15.2k (Farrer and Wanniassa Hills ridges) and 10.5k (out and back flat trail).
