not much hope but here goes!

I lost my beloved Garmin 310XT during the swim leg at yesterdays Sandringham Triathlon. I copped a very hard (accidental) kick which I think may have broken the strap. I looked briefly but as you can imagine all I could really see was stirred up sand and if I had waited too long the next wave would have run over me.

I went back after I finished and swam around the general area for a while with no luck. BUT, as it is bright orange I had hopes someone might have happened across it. (I reported it to the Start to Finish guys on site and have emailed Garmin just in case anyone hands it in).

On a positive note I contacted 1st endurance to see if I could get a discount on a replacement and they have been very accomodating. A substantial discount and excellent customer service. Highly recommended!

(I also clip stacked off my bike at the dismount which fortunately only resulted in a few scrapes to me rather than expensive bike damage so all in all not a great day!)

TIA Paul

The organisers announced they had found a watch on the beach woth $500 ( they were very good declining to give anymore details in case "someone else" tried to claim it) - I would contact them ASAP.

Good news,

the guys at Start to Finish really did have it. (their communications could have been a bit better, I asked plenty of event staff on the day if it had been found or handed in and everyone said no - I also emailed them on Sunday with no response. Following FC's post I telephoned them on Tuesday morning and they said they had it - they knew my name so my email had been received. I picked it up Tuesday evening and got home to find my replacement sitting on the kitchen bench!)

Still, I am very grateful to whoever handed it in and to the Start to Finish (Runners World?) guys for looking after it for me. Big thanks also to Branko (sp?) at 1st Endurance for extraordinary customer service!

best regards, Paul

The lady who found it was Jenny (oops don't know her last name).
She is coached by Julie Tedde. Julie is race director at the XOSize tris.
