I am sure that you will get this response a lot ... find a shoe that you like and stick with it. (The main exception is if it is giving you excess impact / injury in one place.)

For me it is the Asics 2xxx. I have been using these since the 2050 and now have some 2140.

Cheers, David

Fan of the Kayanos myself. Used to get occasional knee problems then changed to these, and problems stopped.

Although to be honest, my latest pair doesn't seem as good as my first pair, but then again the sizes are slightly different.

Dave.

I am tending towards minimalist shoes (when actually wearing shoes) so;
Casual wear - my trusty old Puma Speedcats.
Running - Saucony Shay XC's. Keen to try Feelmax, Skora and Vivo if I feel I have sufficient cash to blow.

Brooks seem to be the only shape that fit my heels without causing blisters or bursitis. Tend to go for the axiom but have used trance, Adrenaline and even the Glycerine ( with orthotics) at various times.

I agree that you need to find a shoe that suits. I tried a heap of shoes before settling on Adidas Super Nova.

Is it really about brand?
I don't see the sense in being loyal to a 'brand'?

I like Nike Air Zoom Elites for training shoes,
BUT like Sauconys for lightweight trainers and marathon race shoes.
Quite pleased with some really lightweight brooks shoes for racing shorter distances.

I agree with Rohan - I change brands to suit what I am doing. Pearl Izumi for training and Newton for racing for me a the moment.

Cheers,

Danny

Being using adidas supernova sequence for about 3 months now. Very happy with them. Tried on a pair of nike free 5.0 yesterday and they felt great, very comfy. Thinking of getting a pair for walking and short training runs.

Mizuno....Wave rider 12s are great for my high arches. I also like that I can really feel the ground with them. I am totally off overly cushioned shoes.....they cause more injury in the long run. Minimalist shoes are the way to go. They allow your feet to do what they were designed to do naturally.

Nike Elite Zooms for training...Asics DS Racers for speed sessions and racing...
And I have a pair of Nike Lunartrainers which I use for casual wear which are soooo comfy (and cheap!), but hurt my arches if I try to train in them :D

Rohan is on the money: all brands (Loco partially excepted) change their models each year and a particular model from as recent as five years ago bears little resemblance to that same model today. I've had equally positive and negative experiences with all of the major brands and rarely recommend shoes to anyone without a disclaimer that because they worked for me doesn't mean they will work for you.

Most of the rabid shoe loyalty I'm exposed to comes from people that barely run and spend most of their time walking in $250+ running shoes. One guy actually said "I went out and bought the best Asics you can buy: they are called Gel Kayano" and that's about the point that I switched off and just nodded and smiled and told him how I generally run in low-profile flats that I buy on clearance tables for less than $100.

I basically buy whatever shoe is on special up to $150

Ive been impressed with the:
Pegasus +26 for Long slow runs, way better then the Brooks Vapours.
T5 Racers for road races or long track training sessions
Addidas Arriba MD spikes for 100 - 800m races and specific track training.

I am currently using the Nike Zoom Elite 4 for training, the Nike Zoom Speed Spider as a racing flat, and the Nike Zoom Victory for track, and have been relatively happy with them all. With that said I have only been running 9 months, and don't have much experience in the shoe department (just been going with what my coach has advised).

What I have heard is that Adidas is now the popular brand with the elite runners, because Nike has pretty much stop sponsoring must of the Australian runners.

As a runner of the Asic west club my favourite would have to be ASIC but it not.

Because I'm in love with the Nike Spiders the only problem is that my left pair rips on the inside, and the problem with this is that the right pair is fine but when it comes to buying a pair of shoe can't just buy the left pair. :cray:

As for joggers NB is the way to go. :D
