Does anyone have any experience with these? They seem to be an ideal "transitioning to barefoot" shoe.

ASICS Gel-Hyper Speed 3

Asics says they are ideal for track, XC, and the road. I'm interested in the last two. A third-party review says, "too “unstructured” for daily running unless you are moving toward running minimalism (barefooting)." Sounds perfect.

Also, where can I buy these online? I'm going to have to get them from the US - what's the best site for delivery to Aus.

I purchased a pair nearly 2 years ago (older model - green) from US, must have been jsut before ASICS clamped down.

i love them and they are my Race shoe (up to 1/2 marathon) but my calves do start to strain a bit when used over 15km.

You will feel a million bucks when you strap them on - enjoy.....

I have used the Hyper speed for faster track based work and some recovery runs but the soles don't last very long because they are trying to keep the shoe weight down. They are ok for races though. I have since changed to the Gel Speedster which seem to last a bit longer.

Love Asics though

They don't ship anywhere. They're a manufacturer.

However, there are ASICS retailers who ship to Australia.

In any case, this is the best place to buy these shoes and have them sent here.

Trackrunner, I looked at the Speedsters as well (garish colour for the women's shoe though). Thanks for the info on the sole wear - and your PM as well. I haven't bought anything yet - will look into it.

Bellthorpe, unfortunately your eBay link only returns a listing of Mens shoes. Many cheap online retailers (eBay et al) don't cater to women who want weird shoes. Or even normal shoes. It's still a man's world out there... :good:

Sure, the shoes you want might not be listed right now. So set up a watch list. At any time I have lots of eBay lots lists (shoes, books, stuff) and the item I want always pops up eventually.

In any case, according to ASICS the Hyperspeed is a 'unisex' fit.
