Hi
My wife and I plan on running the 2010 SMH half, my second at this distance and her first. I'm looking to run sub 90 (in prep for a full mara in September), she is just looking to finish.
Keen to know if there are any formal and/or informal training groups in the Homebush/Olympic Park area that we are able to join to help us achieve our goals. We also both work in the city so would be interested in any groups that meet regularly there also.
Cheers

That sounds like a great goal for you both to share. Have a look in our clubs listing for some local clubs.

The Striders have a 10km race at Homebush a few times a year. You don't have to be a member to run it, and they are very well organised events. Highly recommend them - the next one at Homebush is 6th February.
Also - there is the Pain in the Domain group which does fartlek sessions in the Botanical gardens at lunchtime during the week. I have never joined in, but have heard good things, and it does not sound as scary as the name suggests.
I work in the city and on Monday mornings often run from Moretons Pub/ Sussex Hotel (it recently changed name) along Hickson Road, around the Opera House and back. PM me if you want to join in, especially as sometimes I run from home on Mondays. It is a fantastic route with no traffic lights and only a bit of pedestrian dodging around Circular Quay.

I did my first Half with CANTOO. Check out www.cantoo.org.au
They have training at homebush on Wed nights and Sat mornings. The program for the SMH starts on the 10th Feb.
It was fantastic - it costs nothing, you get great coaching and support, and meet fantastic friends along the way. All you do is raising money for Cure Cancer Australia.
Definately check it out!
Good luck!

Woodstock Runners are based in the Inner West. The club has 3 training sessions a week and is perfect for what you are aiming for.
