Its that time of year again. The Trishave womens only triathlon is on again at Penrith on the 7th March.
It was a great event last year, and hopefully a few new girls will try it this year.
So here is the link, and hopefully i will have some company. ( Fred??)

Ok, crunch time. Crazycatwoman, crazykitten and oldest daughter (Margaret) are up for this. Probably the Midi distance, just have to confirm (twist her arm) with Margaret first! Might have some of the girls from work interested too.

Would like to but it would need to be as part of a team as I can't run at the moment.

I'm happy to do the swim & bike if someone (particularly if you want to come down & check out all the fun but don't want to do the race yourself just yet) wants to do the run leg. Any volunteers?

Thats great Linda, look forward to catching up again.
Just found this link for the TriPink ride on the saturday. Maybe some of us would be interested in doing this the day before.

I was thinking about doing it again.

I'm currently doing the four-race series in Kurnell. So far, there's been two races. I missed the first due to injury, and in the second I came 536th out of 538. Go me! Lol. Hasn't dampened my enthusiasm at all :unknw:

Unfortunately the date of the Trishave Women's tri doesn't suit me -the last race of the Kurnell Series is the weekend before, and I have a friend's birthday party the night before. I'm still kinda thinking about it though -I'd like to do a race outside of the Kurnell series this season, esp an all-women's race, where I'd have a good chance of getting a better place!

I am looking at the Gear Up Girl ride on the 6th though. A nice long ride before the bday party that night is a good idea..

Hey PB,

I'm planning on being there although not sure what distance yet - have to get over today's Aquathon before I decide.

Am also doing the Gear Up Girl ride the day before. It'll be my third year.

All this exercise over 2 days means I can celebrate my birthday after the tri in style.

I will be happy with 3rd last. :unknw:
Not sure i am fit enough to do the ride the day before, will think about that one closer.

I've just found out about this triathlon and am interested, but is it too late for me to enter? Do they take late entries? I just had a look at the entry online and I got right through to the checkout and it wasn't asking for more than the entry fee, so maybe the race isn't full yet? I'd be keen to do the midi (I think!).

Well i've entered for the Midi. I'm excited/nervous/scared etc etc already and it's only Monday!!!

Just wondering what everyone's training schedule is for the week? I have only ever done one very novice tri years ago...

Hi absolutebeginner

It sounds like I have the perfect tri club for you!

www.balancetriclub.org.au

We have lots of female members and lots of beginners who are very supportive. We will be out at the Regatta Centre on the weekend.

As for training this week should be pretty cruisy for you - maybe a few easy swims, a couple of runs and a nice gentle bike ride.

Good luck for your race.

Very quietly sh*tting myself about this one...!

Still, I'm really hoping the water clears up so we can swim. This is my first tri ever - I want to do it properly (even if I do get through the swim only to crash my bike getting out of transition!).

Well i've just buggered the gears on my husband's bike this morning, so if I don't get it fixed tomorrow I won't even make it to the start line - will be fun dragging the kids along to the bike shop in the morning. Gaaahhhhhh!!!!

Great start for me... ;)

Well, another problem, i've now got the flu!! B****y kids! My son has it too. Husband is getting it now too. Typical! I hope i'm feeling better by the weekend. Will just be treating this event as a bit of cross training - not that i'd be in it to win or anything, but i'd probably go hard normally... Got the bike in to be repaired this morning and that won't be back till Saturday, so won't be able to practice much on that either. Ho hum!

Im still praying the lake will be swimable. A bit of the excitement has gone as im such a bad runner that the thought of doing a run/bike/run is rather scary and intimidating to me. At least with the swim i had a chance of being maybe 2nd last across the line, but with that out, i feel sorry for people in the Midi race, they will be waiting ages for me to finish. ;)
Will still be there, but just not quite as excited and a lot more terrified.

I hope there aren't too many good triathletes in the midi event... i'm really worried i'm going to be last across the line now with all my problems. When should we know whether we'll be swimming or not?

Friday night at the latest i think. Not looking promising.
Dont worry about being last. Im last at every club event i do and will most likely be in the last 1 or 2 in the enticer as well.
It the fact that i tried that matters.

Hey PB,

A run/bike/run won't be that bad. In the enticer you only have a 1km run to start with. Think of it this way - you won't be wet on the bike, your runners won't be wet, it'll be a quicker transition - T1 - hat off, helmet on, T2 - helmet off, hat on.

Find out if we're swimming or running today... not sure which i'd prefer to to tbh! I guess it would be better to do it properly!

It's getting closer now. Time to get excited - now i'm getting over the flu! Preparation hasn't quite gone to plan this week...

Have fun out there, ladies, as I am sure you all will.

Relax and enjoy the day. Whatever happens with the swim, I'm sure that after finishing, you will all enjoy your own private giggle at your pre-race trepidations. Especally you, Whippet Girl. Your ability and competence far exceeds what is required to comfortably finish this event.

3.38pm and still no word from the organisers about the water. Waiting...

It's raining - will that help the water quality or make it worse?

Do I need to feel concerned about the lake having JUST reopened to swimmers after this algae problem (assuming it does re-open, that is)? Worries me slightly.. I think i'd rather not swim with the decision being made this close to the event. Having said that i'm sure they wouldn't let anyone swim if there was any doubt about the water quality.

I think I just answered my own question!!

THE SWIM IS ON. woo hoo, im so happy.
Triathlon NSW website states the swim is on, and the lake has tested clear for a week so im happy to throw myself in.
If your worried, maybe invest in earplugs and try to ingest as little water as possible.
I dont think they would open the lake to swimming if there was even the slightest danger to swimmers.

Wow, no rest day for you today then! I just rode the bike back from its service down the road.. that's all I managed today. Oh, other than running around the shops after my 2 y/o this afternoon! That was a workout in itself... ;)

Good luck to you B)
