Does anyone know why these have been phased out by Nike? They were awesome shoes, and I've very reluctantly switched into the structure triax (the lunar elite that apparently replaced the zoom elite is not supportive enough).
I'm already finding the triax a little heavy and thinking I'm now going to have to move over to mizuno to get the same lightweight+support combo that I got from the zoom elite.

Because nike is moving towards the lunar tech soon it will be pretty much all you can get.

I have been asking myself lately the same question as you, since I have tried and been happy with every elite from version 1 to version 4.
I am awaiting the arrival of a Structure Triax Trail which is probably the same as the road version except with a darker colour and some bells and whistles attached.
So if you go trail running the triax you have could be useful in that instance.

Have you tried on the Lunar Elites? They're going back to the original premise of what the zoom Elite was meant to be originally - a firm, low-to-the-ground lightweight trainer. The absence of a medial post doesn't make them a heap less stable. Find them and give them a try in the shops. I've been through incarnations 1 to 4 as well and felt 3 & 4, while very good shoes, were too much shoe for their intended purpose. The original was the best, but if they can cut down on weight with stuff like blown rubber and some of the upper materials, this will be awesome.

Zoom elite has been my favourite running shoe, I am a bit dissapointed that they have been discontinued. I did prefer the zoom elite 1s, I thought that the zoom elite 4s where heavier and harder under foot than the original zoom elites. Hopefully the lunar elite correct this and a bit softer. I am due for some new shoes, so will give the lunar elites a go.

Never tried the zoom elites. I got some lunarelites and would say it's the least soft sole I've ever experienced, though admittedly I don't have much experience with shoes at the flats/performance end of the running shoe world. I quite liked them in that the faster I ran the more they gave back, but the toebox was just a bit too short for me and irritated some of my toenails. If anyone wants a heavily discounted pair of US 10s with 15km on them, let me know.

I agree zoom elites are good shoes.
What is the equivalent mizuno that you speak of?

I've got two pairs of Zoom Elites still in their boxes, as I had heard they were being discontinued. I spoke to a Nike rep who claimed that the Lunar elites would be just as good, but the review in R4YL suggested that wasn't necessarily the case.

I can't understand why Nike have decided not to make them any longer.

I've been told the Wave Inspire is very similar in support, and I find all mizunos to be very lightweight

I was at the Nike outlet shop in Smith St, Collingwood today. They have all sizes of Zoom Elite 4s, going at $140 each.

Not sure how long before they run out - but this may be the last chance to buy them

I've tried the Nike Lunar Elites, they look good but thats about it. If you want a trainer with support you'll not get that with this trainer. I reguarly do high milage in preparation for marathons and the support in this trainer had gone within a month compared to the 4-6 months I'd get with the Zoom Elite. I'm a huge fan of the Zoom Elite so if anyone knows were I can get a US size 8.5 let me know. However I feel this is doubtful and I see myself changing brands after 10 years of wearing Nike :-( Lunar Elites = AWFUL! Bring back the Zoom Elites!

I agree the Lunar elites arent that good, to me they feel much harder than the zoom elites. I alternate between a pair of lunar eiltes and zoom elites(my last pair). the zoom elites feel lighter, softer, more responsive - they are a much better shoe. I might try the nike free run+ next, I prefer a softer shoe. Unfortunately I still have a brand new pair of lunar elites to go through before I am ready to buy more shoes.
