The race looks wide open with a number of the big names missing. Could be a chance for the Shepster to step up...

Good luck to Fossil, DrJH, Superflake et al.

Thanks Tom31,

I went well, James Harrison pulled out (don't know why) - didn't see much of Superflake but he seemed to be going pretty well when I did (was getting ready fro my race).

Missed the Oz record by 3 seconds but took 10 secs of NSW record - off for some zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz now!

Hey Fossil still an impressive run. Must be frustating to miss Colin Obrien's 15:49 Aust. record by so little.

Just to put it in perspective for you all. Fossil goes up an age group in few months. The 55+ record is 15:52 (Jack Ryan), so Keith is also close in that he is only a few months off setting the 55-59 age-group record. So very close on two fronts.

I hope DRJH is okay.

I notice three Queenslanders were in the top six placings. Nice running fellas.

Good to see Anthony Haber and Russ Dexsuix-Chin get on the podium. These guys are always up there keeping Australias's very best honest.

Cheers,
Ronnie.

Congratulations to Anthony Haber and Hanny Allston on their wins.

As for state titles congrats to Russell Dessaix-chin and Belinda Martin.

Race was delayed for an hour due to a few storms hitting the area. Track was very wet during the races.
Started off way too fast doing 3:37 for thr 1st k and then managed to finish in 19:12.
18 secs quicker than I ran 2 weeks ago so i am getting faster this year.

Fossil had a great run in a pack of 5 during his B race which probably helped keep him on track for the sub 16. Plus he did pace well during the race. I think he was 2nd overall?

I think Fossil still may have some 5000m races before he upgrades to the 55+ group.

Hope DrJH is ok as he did pull out during the race.

Congratulations to Fossil on your great run and also to superflake for the 2010 pb. Chin ran really gutsy to hold on to second and there is the mystery of why Mitchell Ryan pulled out of the B race when his lead looked to be around 80m-100m at one stage! Hope Dr JH is all good after he pulled out, despite the un-ideal weather it was good night at the track.

I started another thread...sorry as I could not find an existing thread.ooops

Swaggerer junior had a pretty good run, was running in a group of other Qld runners, until the group started to split up.

Nearly did not recognise him with the shorter hair.

Shepster was my pick for run of the night.

All four Queenslanders ran PBs. These races are so important to help runners to reach their potential. The organisers and helpers are doing a great service to Australian running. Much appreciated.

Cheers,
Ronnie.

Anyone know who was videoing and if it will be put online - ANSW perhaps? It would be good to do some technique analysis

I really enjoyed the race. Conditions were pretty good in the end - a little wet but nice and cool with little breeze. The Fossil went past me mid way through the race and I managed to hang on to him but didn't have the kick the last lap to go past him. Well done Fossil on your record!

Almost one minute quicker than last year so hopefully sets me up for a good year.
