Hi all,

I searched here last night before the race looking for a 2010 thread but zilch! I checked out the wiki entry on the Cole when I got home from the race this morning and it seems it's probably not the favourite event amongst Sydney's ocean swimming community for various reasons...

Anyway, today was my ocean swim debut (the 1K race) and I really enjoyed it. Much harder than still water swimming, and I wasn't prepared AT ALL for how much the first 100-200m takes out of your lungs. Had a lot of fun and am slowly conquering my fear of swimming with sharks

Anyone else swim it today? Love to hear what you thought

I had an entry, but gave it a miss on account of the conditions.

Yeh they were pretty miserable, couldn't imagine it possibly being worse. I might've done the same thing brewer, had it not been my first.

I also made the mistake of going down there solo so in light of the weather could only really leave my belongings with the baggage area at Manly. It was an interesting walk to and from Shelly in just speedos in such conditions
