In the current edition of R4YL there is a shoe review and in it is the Brooks Launch, a lightweight trainer/racer. I have looked everywhere in Sydney (Rebel, Athletes F, Pauls etc) and no one stocks or has heard of it???

Try Rebel Sport in Broadway - they have a big range of Brooks and stock the Racer ST which I couldn't find in their other stores. Otherwise try the Running Centre in Edgecliff

Sarz, what are the basic differences between the Launch and ST 4 Racers?
My wife is after a pair of lighter shoes (racing flats if you will) for 10k and HM.
What would you recommend?

Hey there,
The main difference is that the Racer ST has some support (for feet that roll in), whereas the Launch is neutral (no support). However Launch has slightly better cushioning. So it really depends what foot type it is for. Either would be suitable for those distances. I hope that helps a bit....

Finally got a pair online (after going around Australia). They are NOT easy to get hold of. I was told by one shop in Sydney that Brooks are no longer producing them ???? (i thought they were a 2010 shoe ?)
Anyway, took them out of the box and did 32km and WOW. I had to remember to turn around at the 16k mark!. Very nice shoe, light but felt like i still had heaps of support. I will now try to get my hands on another pair to put away.
(even though i hate Rebel Sport, i find it weird that they stock many types of Brooks, including the racer, but none of them stock the launch ????)

Just got back from Rebel in Melbourne. They have plenty of Brooks Launch in stock. Tried a pair on - quite nice. Might wander down to Runner's World in Kew and see if they've got some in stock.
