Bell, this is the second time within a 7 day period where I've been rendered speechless, and both times were from your posts. A new record is set! :D

I had forgot about this, I was one of the guinea pigs for this study (around 2006 from memory), it was done at Melbourne University and was sponsered by Asics (obviously), I was involved for about 3 months.

I can't believe that something came of it, I thought it was a bit of a stretch but it was an interesting experience being involved in the study. I would have to be weighed each time, run on a treadmill with sensors in my shoes, do various flexibility tests, have ultrasounds on my calves and achilles.

I still wear the Asics long sleeved top they gave me for my trouble.

Incredible. :D

but... now that they have publically acknowledged that there are "more female runners than men" (and surely they mean "male runners" not all men), I wonder if we will see women's versions of *all* ASICS models.

Most running shoes aren't sold to runners, though. They're for hanging around at the shopping centre, etc, etc. Last time I saw the numbers, sales of running shoes were still skewed to men for this very reason - most women are far too style-savvy to see them as fashion accessories.

Maybe I'm missing something, but how does the shoe know what time of the month it is??

So where does that leave us runners for whom the 'time of the month' no longer applies??? Off the radar, as usual, I suppose.
Yes, I'm over 50, and hell, yes, I run.

;)

There's a pop up user-defined calendar in the left heel.

I'm hoping they'll soon do a pair for menopause - maybe with steel-capped toes.
