Any CR's heading out to the Sydney Track Classic this Saturday?

Doesn't look like a good as field as previous years, but I'll be out there, as its normally a good night and the kids enjoy it.

I wil be heading out. Should be a great men's 1500m and hopefully the Kenyan can push Abdi to a fast time in the steeple. No distance races at this meet, but awesome men's and women's fields in the 5000m in Melbourne next Thursday night.

I wasn't keen originally, but check out the 400m field...Wroe, Milburn, Offereins, Troode, Watkins vs David Neville:- Olympic 4x400m Gold medallist and 400m Bronze medallist and David Rudisha 4th fastest ever 800m.

I wouldn't miss this one for anything, this is the best athletics meet in Sydney. 800m and 1500m races are going to be very exciting but I am looking forward to also see what Hooker can do at the moment, quietly brewing sprints and also Dani Samuels.

I will be there as well - I've attended it the last two years - A very humbling experience seeing these elite athletes!

No tickets online anymore.

Are they available at the gate?

you will be able to buy a ticket at the gate. Mainly outer ground now, but that is the best place to be for most events. Just watch where most coaches are during middle distance races- not too many up in the stands. Down by trackside at the bottom of the hill you can actually hear the runners breath, see close ups of their facial expressions and see a lot of angles you would miss most of the time high up in the stands. I think they have sold around 8000 tickets, meaning they can still fit in around 7000 more.

You may want to walk over ot the warm up track and watch how the elites warm up and cool down. Great chance to rub shoulders with them and say g'day.

I urge as many Cool Runners from Sydney and surrounds as possible to attend tonight. Invite family and friends to come as well.

Do I sense a total media boycott about this event? Flipped through a sport section of Herald, there is nothing mentioned about the best athletics meet in Sydney, what a shame.

Crowd numbers were down a bit last night, which was a shame as it was a good night of racing. Both the mens and womens 1500 were excellent races, as was the 400. Some extremely good results out there.

Great night...didn't see any other CR's except Buzz and missus outside witing for their 'ticket scalper' and the legendary John Stevens with whom I sat on the grassy knoll at the bend.

Some good conversation and he introduced me to Jeff Hunt, who we had a chat with about his 2:11, the training, the taper, his goals etc. JS couldn't talk him into 6FT though ;)

Does anyone know if there is gunna be some highlights of the Sydney Track Classic on TV? Ten has the rights to the athletics now doesn't it? But I had a look at the program for this weekend and there doesn't seem to be anything on Ten or One. Maybe they have too much American university basketball to show instead of given us a chance to see Australian athletics?

I didn't see any of the networks cameras there on the night, so somehow I doubt its going to make it on the box.
