With 6 foot track just around the corner I seem to have picked up some minor form of PF in both feet and want to get some opinions on shoe selection that might help keep this away till after race day.

Brief history as background;

I have a history of running related injury brought about by poor core strength and flexibilty mainly. Injuries mainly knee issues.

Read Born to Run and drank the coollaid regarding using lighter shoes and this has kept me injury free for some time now which has been fantastic.

Shoe selection went from Asics 3000/Nike Structure Triax type shoes to NB 904/ DS Trainers.

About 90% of my 6 ft training has been in the DS Trainers as the NB did not like the heels of either feet.

PF symptoms started a few weeks back but I dismissed it as just muscle fatigue as they adjusted to mileage.

Now the morning aches have started.

I have started the tennis ball rolling and other management exercises and they are working already which is great.

So to the question. Do I go and replace the DS with same and rely on management work or do I take the safer approach and go to something like the 2130-50 model for some added control?

Any opinions on shoe selection would be great. I am not fixed to Asics and would love to just up the control but stay in a light shoe if possible.

Thanks in advance team and good luck to all 6ft track racers next weekend, see you out there!!

I wear a light wt trainer (adidas tempo) but with light orthotics in them.
Works for me. I hate heavy clumsy stiff shoes, but need a bit of antipronation help.

While not as light as the DS trainers - the 1150 are lighter and cheaper than the 2150 and have a bit less control. Nike Air Span are also similar. Go here and check out the guidance section.
