Would've been awesome to see Rudisha run a 1.43.15... and a really good run from Ryan Gregson for 2nd in 1.46.04.
Had to laugh when the sports jock on SEN radio started launching into a "Huge development here!! The leading Kenyan runner has pulled out!! Clearly he's done himself some damage!!" Only for someone who actually knows athletics to interject with "Actually, that was just the pacemaker".

Yes, a great night of entertainment. The respective 5km races were great contests but the runners themsleves were probably hoping for some quicker times.
You have to love the "know nothing" commentators that get trotted out from time to time.
I've never forgotten a certain commentators reaction to the reference of a negative split for a New York marathon winner.
"But there is nothing negative about his run" she wailed in horror!!!

I was replacing the bar at the high jump (had to use a step ladder towards the end, the winner cleared the A qualifier of 2.25 - why do they always give the bar replacing job to short people).
Then it was my job to place the spike for measuring the Shot Put.
Managed to watch the last couple of track races though, so had an enjoyable night out.

In fact I notice that the The Age (or SMH) web site does not even have a category for athletics in its sports section, not even under "more sports".

was doing a bit of 'celebrity' spotting amongst the crowd near us.
Monna, Jane Fleming, Derek Clayton etc.
actually Derek Clayton doesn't count because no one has ever heard of him.

nando - last night they announced that the Herald Sun were one of the event sponsors. Maybe that's why The Age is quiet about it. Haven't seen the papers yet down here, but hopefully there will be something about it.

Great run from Risley, must have felt pretty good beating an Olympic Gold and Silver medalist (the two clean ones)
Article in The Age wasn't too hard to find - http://www.theage.com.au/sport/rudishas-el...00304-plrh.html
