As such I will have to abstain from the run on Sunday and find something else to run this weekend. Hope everyone has a great run up there I will have too reserve my experiences of the trails there for a future date. Hope to catch many of you at Hells-gate Fatass next Saturday (I shall now go and check it is not on a Sunday).

I'll still be in the area so hopefully they'll calm down over the day and I'll be right to run tomorrow but I'm not confident.
Very annoying as I was really looking forward to it.

Hey Pinkskirt,
Sorry we missed you. I was looking forward to running with you again :-(
We drove 'way' past the forest turn off and got to the start around 8am. Anyway we had a great time and really enjoyed the well marked course. Thanks Sean!!
We did 2 x 25k red loops and I only fell over 3 times LOL Definately need more practice on the trails ;-)

Ran 63km- first 25km loop with around 12 other runners pretty nearby. Ran 19km loop with Tom and Steve, not far behind Milov and Ewan. Ran final 19km loop with Ewan, Tom and Steve. 6hr 30min all up.
Thanks for the company guys.
Sorry we missed you Sally and max. Saw your impressive Vibram Five Fingers van with a few of your friends at the end of our run.
Hope to have it again next year.

Was feeling great & thought yeah 50k no sweat! The first lap was awesome, the single track for mountain biking is great. Loved 'the great wall' and all the other parts that made it so flowing and fast. Probably got carried away though and by not having done a 30k + run in a little while made the going tough. The wind really picked up as well, making massive trees sway looking like they may break & fall on you.
25k done in 2hrs 34mins. Back at the car had some drink/food & get going again.
Rog coming off a massive week of training was lapping it up now & pulling away from me. The last 10k was a shocker for me. Trail running really did kick me in the arse on this day. Just simply walked about 5km to gather my thoughts. Ran the last 3k, OUCH. Feet were really sore.
3hrs 9mins or so for second lap. 5hrs 44mins all up for about 49km.
Will definately be back at this place with the mountain bike and the trail running shoes.

Caught up to 2 women only around the Tangles area, they looked pretty serious runners. Was hoping to catch up to more but would have smashed me anyway on 2nd lap cause i bonked. After massage today & heaps of food with a solid sleep last night i good to go again. Ready for the Hell at the Gates this saturday.

Sort of tempted to go back down there in a few weeks/months and see what I can knock out on the course now that I know where the faster bits are. Encourage everyone to go down and check out these trails if you're after a break from your usual haunts.

Sounds like you had a good day Long Arms.
Anyone out this way should also check out the Penrose State Forest trails. It is pretty easy to combine the 2. I can go from my home in Bundanoon down to Wingello mainly on trails/dirt roads. Morton National Park is also a great place to run either from the Bundy end or via Fitzroy Falls. 2004 went from Bundy to Kangaroo Valley via the Fitzroy Falls option covered about 70k.
Our primary school is offering mountain bike riding & orienteering as after school activities this year - start them young!
Wouldn't suggest this weekend though it's Brigadoon & you're likely to be run over by a 4WD full of people dressed in tartan & playing bagpipes!

Gets a bit much when you're waiting to march with 80 excited kids & 20 different Scottish bands are all tuning up playing something different beside you.Still it's a good day even if a bit embarrassing as a teacher, last year we were pirates (Treasure Island) fine when you're with the group not so good walking home though! It all part of being part of a small community & to be honest I love that.

Lucky kids having you as their teacher and getting to do such fun activities!
Enjoy the bagpipes and all those men in skirts with no undies.
