Just need to find somewhere cheap to stay, as the drive down from Orange and dealing with Sydney traffic is a big turn-off.

There is a youth hostel in the Rocks at the foot of the Harbour Bridge steps, which would make a 1.5/2km warm-up to the start and a 1km walk from the finish. http://www.yha.com.a...sydney-harbour/
Before anyone turns their nose up at hostels, this is a brand new award-winning one with rooftop terrace with Harbour views.

I must apologise for the time it's taken to get this task done but we'll have the new marathon course profile available on Friday afternoon. I'll put a post on CR when it's up online.
Cheers

Anyone else stayed there, doesn't look too bad with 1pm late checkout for $150. (but an extra $40 to park the car. WTF !!!)
Might even let the lovely wife tag along, but will need to keep my energy up for the race on Sunday.
Just entered, Bib # B06078. Aim for my first sub 2hr half.

I have found though greater resistence to hotter conditions through spensding more time in the sauna beforehand - also great for the recovery and the lungs.
Last year conditions were perfect nice and clear and not too warm - let's hope for much of the same this time round.
May you all have a good 6 weeks of sharpening and a solid run on the day!

Sydney Striders organise the pacers for the half and marathon. Most are Striders but other runners mostly on CR do pace as well.

Good luck with the training Sammo! My only PB (I've only run one half) is 2.04 but I am training hard and ran the C2S in 77 on Sunday so hoping to crack 2 hours.

After a long hiatus after injury, I'm back - well sort off. Given that I'm only up to 6km and will probably only be up to 10km on race day (very slow 10% rule atm), I decided to volunteer.
So, if you get a well done CR at the finish line, that'll be me - I actually wanted a drinks station but when they heard I ran the marathon last year, they wanted me at the end.
I'll save my self for next year's race.

Hi there
Yes there are start three start groups each with their own letter A being the fastest and C being the slowest. They are not waves as such with a set break between them, the event officials managing each of the start groups will walk each group forward onto the back of the previous group as they empty from their chute. The A & B groups will start on South Alfred Street and the C group will start on Fitzroy Street (side street at top of Bradfield Park under the bridge). This will allow us to separate the crowds and better manage getting people into the correct chute. Start groups are separated by barricades which will be removed just before the preceeding group is emptying their chute, then marshals will manage the start from there. I've attached a map of the start area for you to review.
Hope that helps.
Regards
Wayne

Yes I'm staying here too with my other half. I'd love a sub 2hour as well but it's a big ask. Last year I did 2.10.
My bib number is C10036.
I entered ages ago. Did we have to nominate the time we thought we could do on the entry and that's how they determine the A,B or C.I can't recall.
See you on the day

Each group had a time range and you entered the one which covered your estimated time.
With a 2.10 result you should of entered in the B group.

Sadly Sam got the news today that the injury is in fact a crack in the bone that is healing but no amount of cheating work will get me ready for 42k in 5 weeks. Have deferred and resolved to build fitness and aim for a few shorter events in November. According to the doctor I could give it a crack, but there is a chance the bone will be good, but also the chance it could crack through. I was only planning to run around 3.15 anyways so no drama if I miss out.
I will however be volunteering at the finishline and hope to be able to give a little back to the sport that has given me so much.
I wish everyone the very best with the last bits of training. Pay some heed to the Zatpotek syndrome when tapering. Don't worry about doing too much. Rested legs often perform the best. In fact I have always trained long and hard, but ironically did my best times on little or no training.
Good luck!

Long time lurker - first post
Have just entered myself in for the Half (hopefully sub 2:00) - really looking forward to running this course.
Any ideas on transport to the start - i'm guessing you have to avoid the bridge on way over?

Hi CR's - just to save you some time in contacting us I've attached the number ranges for you to review what event / group you have been allocated. It is pretty easy to follow. The reason for the big gaps between number ranges is to give us some breathing room should we wish to extend a number range in a particular group. We try to spread the entrants over the three groups to spread people out but inevitably we do usually have a larger group in the middle.
Hope this helps you.
Thanks

How do you earn a preffered start in the bridge run??
Chris
Hi Kocxy
You can submit previous best times in the event and if you've run under 35min (male) / 40min (female) then your in. Otherwise send in times you've done in 10k road races and if you've done under 39min (male) / 44min (female) (in the last 12months) then I'd put you in.

Wayne,
Maybe not the best forum to raise this but over the past month I have sent 3 separate mails trying to volunteer my services for the 19th and so far have neard nothing in reply.
I don't mind if I'm not required, a quick note to say that would be fine.
Can you clarify whether all volunteers have been contacted?
Thanks,
Gerry
