Hey Miners, your so gone, Mango has some serious training partners here at P.I.S and he will be ready and willing to open up a can of whoop ass come May 1 2011.............assuming he stays upright...

What he said...........

.........and keeping the rubber on the ground come 1/5/11 is going to be a piece of P.I.S  :D

yes, even Ironman-connect made mention of it in a couple of their press releases, so not just idle speculation.  Haven't heard any direct confirmation of the planned bike leg extension at this stage, but will let you know if I do

Has there been any speculation about the spots that will become available as people start to pull out for whatever reason?  Being the social butterfly that you are miners, I'm sure you will hear about it well before the masses.

He's going to have to. Otherwise he's going to have a long wait until I am free to go & pick him up from the medic tent (again)....  :D

I'm still very curious about this, and reportedly, the local organising committee aren't aware of the protocols/policy yet either.  Will let you know if I hear anything though.

With any luck, I might get out to ride 1x lap of the much vaulted, and under negotiation 90km bike course this weekend.  Will make for a fast 'middle' section on the bike :D

You are sadly misinformed here ratdog, 1, their not really that dedicated except for about 12 weeks of the year and 2 P.I.S is not a club it is a team which is made up pretty much from all Panthers Tri CLub members.
There is criteria to become a member of Team P.I.S (Penrith Insitute of Sport) most of which have nothing to do with actual race performance.
As for turning heads on the course only our girls do that...

Mango will be faster still on that middle section.................you know his bike is RED!! The fast colour.

On another note Miners, I heard there is a fella up your way who is running some pretty impressive km's at the moment, upwards of 150km per week and he is looking to smash it up at a few runs this year, he's suppossedly even only working part time, know anything?

aha - but my bike's redder :D

and B+ - no, I've been hitting the snooze a bit lately so haven't spotted the mystery runner.  But to be honest, with the amount of people that now run/ride/ski/walk/swim early in this town, it'd be hard to distinguish the gentleman

and mango, a certain someone still isn't on that list.  Not saying it's your responsibility or nothing ...

well purely rumour, but the use of the Pac Hwy has been discussed. It would involve shutting down one side of divided carriageway for the race - but that's hardly uncommon on the stretch between Bulahdelah and Kempsey, 'cept it's usually for months at a times, not just one Sunday  :D

And in other news, I've entered the Half Ironman - sorry 70.3 - at Port Macquarie in May next year. I should highlight use of the word "I"; no team, no hired (gum) runners. Just me. Guess I'd better get the running thing sorted out soon...

I want to see those "gum" runners?

While your excitement is appreciated (not to mention amusing), don't get too excited. I haven't run 10k or more in 2 years. Or is it 3? I forget...

I've got to say, I was amazed by how quickly the entries for both the Ironman and the 70.3 filled.  I've got this penciled in, along with many others no doubt, as a life goal.  Looks like it's going to take quite a bit of logistical planning just to get in, let alone the training :D .

I've watched enough tris over the years to realise this Miners. Why do you think I entered?  :D

My second biggest problem is that I won't have anyone at the finish line to watch me finish my first Half. I've told Mango he's got to go sub-9 in order to be there to see me finish :D

I am sure that the people at the finish will give you a cheer.

Just need to design a half coolrunner / transitions cap for maximum cheer effect.

Look forward to taking your chocolate off your hands in November at Nepean.

Jen Runs, dont worry about not having anyone at the finish line.  There will be plenty of people cheering you on, you may not know them, but they will still make that finish chute memorable.
Besides, you can always volunteer as a catcher for the Ironman, and not leave the finish are and be there for everyone else.

Paige, I don't need to be catching to be there for everyone else. I have a huge number of friends racing the IM this year.

Plod, I actually thinking swimming is a pre-req for tris - isn't the only other alternative drowning?  :D

Anyone know if there is a free-to-air TV broadcast (in Sydney)?  I can't seem to find one (didn't necessarily surprise me, but thought i'd ask).

Cheers
