Hoping someone can help me out as I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

The "Training Center" works fine and automatically uploads from watch to computer - no issues there whatsoever.

But if I go to Garmin Connect on the internet, it allows me to sign in and says in the top right "You are sign in as ......." but nothing will appear under myConnect - whether I click on Dashboard, Activities, Calendar, etc, etc, it just remains on the sign in page, but I'm signed in!!! And I've been here before and all the info pops up, so why isn't it working now?

Do you have another computer or web access you can log in from ?

As a test you could always create another GC account and upload a run file manually.

When was the last time you used GC ?

Is all your software up to date, like Garmin Communicator etc ?
Which Garmin do you have ?

What Browser are you using ?
Mac/PC ?

If you are using IE8 you will need to set http://*.garmin.com/ as a trusted site and uncheck the "require server verification" option.

Otherwise download Firefox and give that a shot.

Thanks for the tips chilliman.

1) Yes, I've just logged in now via a laptop and I can see all the info I had before - it's up to date - everything perfect there - YAY!

2) Can't recall when I last used GC, a few weeks ago or a month ago maybe.

3) Re software up to date - it must be if I can log in on my laptop and access the info, but my desktop computer still won't give me the info - still stuck on the sign in page.

4) I have the Garmin 405CX

5) Yes, I'm using Internet Explorer 8 on a PC and garmin is already on there as a trusted site and I've now unchecked the "require server verification" option - still stuck on sign in page - grrrr. What is going on?

6) Do you think Firefox will help this problem?

Thanks for your help!

If it's an issue with Explorer, yes it will. :D

Personally I don't use Explorer, assuming you have all the security settings setup the same as your laptop that works, log out of Garmin Connect, then try clearing Explorer's cache and any cookies for Garmin/Garmin connect. Quit Explorer, relaunch then try and login again.

Edit:

When you say garmin is on there as a trusted site, is there a specific entry that says:
http://*.garmin.com/
The "*" is very important, as it will mean any sites from the garmin domain including connect.garmin.com will be trusted. You could also add an entry for https://*.garmin.com if the above doesn't help.

Ed2: and make sure IE will accept cookies from connect.gamin.com.
Ed3: From what I have just read, it was an automatic recent update to IE8 that caused the issue to a few others as well, correct security settings should solve the issue.

Thanks chilliman - you're the best! Problem solved from adding the specific entries you mentioned.

Natkas just wondering if you have anyone else with a garmin connect account using the same computer or is it just yourself?

Sent you a pm UfF, if using multiple Garmin Connect accounts just make sure you don't have the "Remember Me" button checked at login. If you have checked it in the past you may have to clear your web browser's cache and cookies for Garmin. Ed: and you can only login to Garmin Connect on one account at a time from the same web browser session, even when using multiple tabs etc.

Hey Chilliman,

Yeah when I went through this same thing last time I reset all the cookies and made sure it was unchecked.  Just some crappy bug in the system...

i just use my work computer to access it and the garmin training centre when at home.

I'd strongly suggesting downloading Firefox (link above) and trying that at home just for the exercise to see if it is a config issue with iE8.

This is sort of on-topic.

I'm a Firefox user and the Garmin Communicator Plugin is correctly installed and configured.   Can upload my data via Firefox to Garmin Connect.

What really peeves me is that I can not configure the Plugin with Internet Explorer, the test page indicates that the plugin is not installed.   It peeves me because it should be working but since I'm operational with Firefox it's not a top priority to fix, well, not yet.   Wondering if others have come across this.

Have you done this as mentioned above, especially noting the "*"?
If you are using IE8 you will need to set http://*.garmin.com/ as a trusted site and uncheck the "require server verification" option.
Also add an entry for https://*.garmin.com/ also unchecked.

Is Communicator 2.9.2 and Ant Agent software up to date also ?

I also read somewhere about a similar issue and right clicking and running iE as an Admin if you aren't already doing so.

Yes, done the above except the right-clicking and run as admin.   I'll try that tonight.

Right clicking as administrator didn't work.   I'm giving up on IE.

Chilli .. what is the difference between the Training Centre and Garmin Connect?

I have just started using the ANT software with the Training Centre.  Still to work out what I'm really looking at.  *laughs*  and now wondering if I should be using GC???

My PC has an issue with running the ANT exe file.  Although the laptop ran it fine.

GTC - stand alone application that runs on your PC/Mac without the WWW. Does the basics but is a bit clunky, and mapping is not the best.
GC - Web based storage and tools for mapping and sharing running data. Much improved since March 2010, and hopefully will get better still.

Garmin Connect is the better way to go, but GTC can still be used as a backup, or for uploading courses or workouts to the Garmin. Make sure Garmin Communicator is up to date as well as Ant software before you upload to GC.
