Of course it will be a great turnout.  Goes without saying!

I'll be there.

That doesn't sound right - I mean't it will be a great turnout, plus I will be there.  Not because I will be there.

Have a great run guys and girls - hope the weather is kind and the cafe warm!

Hi,

Thanks BB for continuing to host this one,. After an absence of four months,it was nice to get back there again and do an easy 10km and catch up with some old and new friends for brekky afterwards. A very congenial atmosphere and highly recommended if any CR's can make it.Well worth it and I'll be trying to make a few more of these before the year is out.

Regards

slowmc

We had a great turn out this morning. BB is the statistician so I will let him supply the detail. Lots of runners and a couple of injured runners turned cyclists led to a good morning. I did a good 9k in a great time for me. Very happy with my run. :D

Here is the traditional group photo.

Another great morning.  I nearly didn't make it as I was a sleepy head, for a change, this morning.   Ran 12k with Craigus.  Big turn out once again.  It speaks volumes for how much people enjoy the run and the social aspect of it all.

Cafe McKells do a superb job of accomodating us all each month.

And BB thanks again for organising this each and every month. :im Not Worthy:    Loving those T-Shirts.

Had a great morning running on the M7 and really enjoyed the breakfast and conversation post run. There is always something to learn from other runners.
Should be able to make it to more of these now I'm not doing shift work (yippee). Thanks to BB for organising a fun morning.

Good run on the M7 this morning with Susan keeping me honest.  Lovely bunch of old and new faces at breakfast afterwards.  Nice getting to know Crazycatwoman and put a face to the name.

Look forward to seeing everyone next month.

Loved the herbie tshirts on the 53yr olds!

Great turnout again today:
Blues Buffett, Sonja, Freezer, photogirl, FastBob, Brooke, ourdogscruff, craigus, slowmc, KiwiShazza, Susan, Crazycatwoman, georgegd, thomo (bike), Joal (bike), Katie R (walk).

I ran 10k with Sonja and am happy to report the leg held up really well. Dare I hope...?

Cafe McKell's welcomed us again and indeed reserved our regular indoor table.

Thank you everyone who makes this monthly run and breakfast. It's a great social get-together, and the running can be as hard or easy as you like.

A special thank you to Freezer for the Herbie shirts. I wonder if photogirl could post that photo here?

Next month is Sunday September 25 8am. I see the October run clashes with the new SMC calendar (16/10/2011). We'll have to change that one. Perhaps Sunday 23rd?

See you next month, BB

Another great turn out.

Loved catching up for a chat.

Joal & I had a brisk 35km+ cycle. Joal cycled further as he rode to from Home. My bike was lazy and travelled to and from the venue by car.

I'd like to plan 2012 soon.

Could any of the likely regular runners help me out with major races for 2012, so I can avoid clashing with them?

I also want to make sure we don't clash with public holidays and other celebrations e.g. Mothers' Day/Fathers' Day.

thanks in advance, BB

To the lady in the pink top at left of screen in photo, my wife sends her thanks to you for giving her directions (after she somehow got lost accessing M7 path) last Sunday morning.  Well, it was the first time she'd been there (from Circa end) and she was only following my dodgy directions. Cheers.

Forecast is for 10°C minimum warming up to 20°C maximum.

We cater for all standards and distances.

Quote

OK, what time do you start out and how far do you guys run?

We normally run around 8km - 12km

People wanting to run longer will meet and run earlier. They will either post on this thread asking if anyone wants to arrive early & run long.

Hi gang

Thanks thomo for the bump. I believe you enjoy running into me.

How do people feel about starting at 7:45am on Sunday? If I don't hear a chorus of disapproval, then I'd like to get going a bit earlier.

The majority tend to start out together, so even with quicker runners doing 12k but starting at 7:45am, we should be back at opening time.

We do want to be at Cafe McKells around opening time; we have Photogirl's birthday to celebrate... Please advise if you're planning to be there.

See you Sunday, BB

I'll be there and probably the two Sues.  However we might start after you and only do a short run as Kiwi Sue is recovering from the HM on Sunday.  We made it to 16km doing well when she got big problems with her feet. Hobbled to the first aid station and then it was an ambulance ride to hospital.  All's well now and I'm sure the full story will be told on Sunday.  Also the bit about her being the very last person to start in the Half as had just got out of Milson's Point station when they closed the race, with me yelling at her over the phone to run, run or she would miss it!  Really wasn't her day!!

Hi OurDogScruff
did you ever get around to replacing your Garmin?  I'm seriously wondering if I'm ever going to get around to figuring out how to use mine so might be convinced to sell it for what I paid for it (used once).

Sorry to say I won't see you all tomorrow.  Have woken up the last 2 days with a terrible hacking cough thanks to a chest infection.  Nasty virus going around work and looks like it was my turn to bring it home.  So, apart from not being a good idea to run, also would hate to share it around everyone.  So have a nice run boys & girls and an even better breakfast!

Good turn out in mixed weather conditions.

crazycatwomen, crazykitten, OurDogScruff, Blues Buffett, photogirl, Brook, sonj, Joal & I ran 10 km & Georgegd joined us for breakfast after his long, long run.

Very enjoyable social experience as usual, pre / during and post run.

Special mention to photogirl. She had her birthday yesterday and today ran a smashing 10km.

More people than I thought there'd be this morning considering the weather.

Great effort on your run again Georgegd, remain positive!

Solid turnout in wet weather today.

Ran with thomo, OurDogScruff, Joal, Sonja, photogirl, Brooke, crazycatwoman, crazykitten over 10k.

goergegd joined us for breakfast after a strong 32k. Well done.

Excellent breakfast at Cafe McKells, including a birthday cupcake for photogirl. Hope she posts the photo here too.

Even though it was a smaller group than usual - understandably - the conversation flowed and I think we solved some of today's pressing issues in a relaxed environment. Just don't mention Aldi.

Look forward to hosting the next Circa run: Sunday October 23, 7:45am (maybe 7:30am - I think the cafe will be open earlier so that gives us the chance to run longer or eat earlier!).

cheers, BB

Bump!

It's on again - this coming Sunday 23/10/2011, Circa shops carpark Circa shopping centre.

Main start 7:30am, but feel free to commence anytime.

The only commitment you need to make is to be seated at 9am at Cafe McKell's, and then to enjoy breakfast and conversation with your fellow runners (and walkers).

Hope to see many there this month - I might even make a FB event page to gauge numbers!

cheers, BB

Hi BB
Sorry to miss this great run, great company & great breakfast yet again, but the Bare Creek Trail run in November has free training sessions on the next few Sundays so can't make M7.  Hope to see you all next month though.

Unfortunately just for the run. Will have to rush off to work.

Will miss my poached eggs. OurDogScruff will just to have extra.

I will just have to enjoy the company on the run this month.

An excellent turnout this morning, in humid and warm (19) conditions.

A total of 17 runners traversed the M7, although we had about 20 at McKells breakfast: Ratdog's family joined us, as did Donna who managed a 73k cycle beforehand.

Unfortunately thomo had to leave for work, so he's not in the photo but was definitely out there. Indeed, he is often out there.

Summary: BB, thomo, Sonja, Joal, Ourdogscruff, Ratdog, Georgegd, Freezer, Sharon, Crazycatwoman, Princess Odette, Rick, KiwiShazza, Sue, photogirl, Queenslander AKA Fast Bob, and a special welcome to new starter Kgold.

As always, the breakfast conversations covered many topics, generally non-running related.

Thanks again to photogirl for the snap.

Next run Sunday November 13th at 7:30am. Hope to see you then!

cheers, BB

A good turnout today, given two other major races were on the same day, as well as holidays for one regular.

Still, we had nine runners today: BB, Georgegd, photogirl, Fast Bob, Fast Brooke (who couldn't stay for the photo), Freezer, Mrs Freezer, Crazycatwoman and Mr CCW.

We were joined at Cafe McKell's afterwards for breakfast by Mrs BB and Miss BB. I'm sure photogirl will post the photo when editing has been completed. Plenty of running talk this month, with Horrendously Hill 1/2, Twilight, Hoofers and CR West all within the past week. :Applause:

Look forward to welcoming a slightly larger group for our final 2011 run: 11/12/2011 starting at 7:15am, but importantly being back for breakfast around 8:45am! :Cuppa:

cheers, BB

Bump!

It's on again - this coming Sunday 11/12/2011, Circa shops carpark Circa shopping centre.

Main start 7:15am, but feel free to commence anytime.

The only commitment you need to make is to be seated by 9am at Cafe McKell's, and then to enjoy breakfast and conversation with your fellow runners (and walkers).

Hope to see many of the regulars there!

cheers, BB

Okay,

I have never been to one of these so I have some questions.

How far do people run?

To cover the same distance, I am going to have to start off a whole heap earlier than most.

Any feedback would be good.

Hi BC
There are only two running/walking rules:
1. follow the course (along the M7)
2. be back in time for breakfast and The Photo, about 8:45am

Other than that, it's up to you. There are runners of all speeds: 4 min/k to 7 min/k. The main group generally does 10k, but others start at different times and do anything from 5k to 22k.

It's a social group. Sounds like a good opportunity for you: maybe 15 minutes from your suburb, nice people, great Cafe and the M7 bike path!

Please PM me for more info, or jump onto the Facebook group.

Hope to see you there Sunday 7:15am in the Woolworths Circa above ground carpark.

cheers, BB

Hey all,

I am planning on being there tomorrow morning.

Considering my run is programmed for 80 mins tomorrow, will probably need to start close to 7am. This will give me more than enough time to finish said run and at least be in some sort of social condition at the end.

Here's hoping I don't get lost getting to the path.

Oh, I assume that we would be running south/west along the M7?

Enjoyable run & food this morning with like minded people.

Weather was almost perfect.

Lots of post race banter at McKells, whilst the sun was high.

Nice morning out today for the final 2011 Circa M7 group run.

A field of 14 runners/walkers were joined by Mrs Freezer (injured) for breakfast at Cafe McKels.

The illustrious group was: BB, thomo, Freezer, Joal, Sonja, georgegd, Ourdogscruff, photogirl, Kgold, craztcatwoman, BoneyChic, KiwiShazza, Justrun and KatierR.

Plenty of good (not gay) banter, enjoyable food & beverage with a great group of people.

Thanks KiwiShazza for the singlet/T-shirt idea; I'll discuss with NTR. Maybe a website too? Ourdogscruff: I'll return your water bottle when I see you next: perhaps SMC?

In answer to some frankly impertinent questions: yes there is an Excel file and yes I'll give you the headlines:
since its inception in Aug 2010 (17 runs), the top turner-upperers are (drum roll):
* Georgegd 15 (not bad for an old...)
* thomo, BB (darn that bursitis) 14
* photogirl 13
* Freezer, Ourdogscruff 11
* KiwiShazza 10 - you must try actually running with some of the group one day!

* average attendees per run (not just breakfast): 11; interestingly 2010 avg (5 months):6, 2011 avg:13
* Best attendance: 19 in Jan 2011
* total number of runners who have attended at least one run: 44 (and 16 of these have attended only one run!)

So this group run seems to be gaining popularity, as does the breakfast afterwards. The first run in 2012 is Jan 22 at 7:15am.

Remember, details are on the wiki, which is here

You'll find these type of guides by going to the main menu (LHS home page)/Running Guide/DIY pages. You'll find this, CR West 5k challenge, CR Twilight, West Met and much much more...

See you all soon.

cheers, BB

Hi Guys

I am going to run from the start of M7 (norwest end) and go for about 10km one way and then turn around on Xmas eve. My only concern is water.

What do you guys do for water? Are there any taps in that first 10km section?

Many thanks

Hi markg007

I'm not sure where 10k from the start gets you to, but it is somewhere around Richmond Rd I guess.

There aren't any taps along the way, unless you detour through one of the parks. It's safer to take water.

Apparently there's a bubbler 900m south of the M4 on the path.

Hope this helps. If you have the chance, why not join us next social run: Sunday 7:15am 22/01/2012?

cheers, BB
