any ideas for the under 20's girls win?  :D

If Demi Wood is racing, She would be the main contender, Linden hall would be another one

I agree that of Demi Wood runs then she'll run away with it but if she doesn't then my moneys on Linden Hall. But i also wouldn't count out Grace Musgrove from NSW she won the schools under 20's but a large margin. So I expect her to be among the lead pack and reckon that if she runs her best she may even get 1st or second but I think that she'll get on the podium. But that's my feeling as she is now under the guidance of the ledendry Ian Hatfield. So I expect her to do well.

VERY flat, according to the elevation map the high point is 19m and the low is 9m (I think my driveway has a bigger hill).

Boys under 20 race.

Patrick smith from Tasmania should be up there for a top 6 performance. This is still his first year in this age group as well. So plenty to come from Pat. Definitely one to watch next couple of years.

Go pat!!!!!!

Watch out for Georgia Evans 11years Girls, in the first event of they day.

Progeny of a couple of handy runners from the past, Australian reps, Dave Evans and Tanya Adams. Plus, I believe she has been receiving some handy coaching tips recently from Australia's "gun coach" of the moment, our own LongArms.

Good luck Georg!

its reallly flat everywhere and really open.
Theres only one down hill at about the 800m mark and then one up hill in the middle thats hardly anything and then a slight incline out the very back and thats it.

Yeah, the elevation map was interesting to look at. From a visual perspective it was condensed down so much that it almost looked like the Pyranees mountain stage of the Tour de France. However when you  look at the actual numbers, I reckon the changes in elevation would be lucky to sufficiently grade a concrete slab!

Maybe a bit of rain on Friday will soften the ground up and make things interesting  :D

Lets hope for some rain too so it doesn't turn into a track race on the hard ground!

Damn, yes they are predicting rain for Friday, the good thing about Brissy weather is it can get soaked in one suburb and nothing in the next, so fingers crossed bald hills is dry.
And even if it does rain the ground is so dry right now it would take a lot to make it wet on race day.
It would hurt my chances alot on a muddy track.

My race is at 1pm so should be fine by then. Thursday is down for a warm 26 wish that was Saturday :p
If i can come top 10 in combined age i will be stoked, top 5 and party time  :D
But who knows. I don't normaly look forward to national X country but this time i am as i don't have to fly anywhere.

Just a quick Q how long before the race do you go to the call room and how long you have wait there before the race etc?

WC, check out the Athletics Australia website and click on the link to the Australian Cross Country Championships for all the information.  I've also attached the link to the Technical Rules document for you.

Would anyone recommend wear no socks for an 8km race or would you wear socks?? As I mainly don't ware socks with spikes but I'm worried about getting blisters etc. So has anyone ever raced an 8km z race without socks??

I think that it will depend on the weather. If the ground is wet, then i wouldn't bother with socks! Have you ever tried 'body glide'? its great stuff that stops blisters! I race up to 5k no socks, but when I race ten, the socks are always on! I guess it depends on what your used to and how well the shoes suit your feet!     GOOD LUCK!

well i've got the matumbos for x racing and well lets put it this way a bit of the flywire sticks out and scrathes both my big toes on the top and i causes a little cut each time but it only hurts when i start to feel the pinch abit but it's only a little cut and not that big of a deal so i'm pretty sure i won't wear socks.

Really show victoria is the strongest state when you look at the guys unavaliable due to racing overseas, And are still able to put a very solid team on the start line

yes that maybe true, but remains to be seen, in the end only the scoreboard will matter. If Victoria win only then can you say they are the "strongest state".

the other states don't want to hear any excuses haha :D

It has rained all night and day, but not heavy, probably enough to take the sting out of the ground. If the sun comes out tomorrow as predicted ground should be fine.
There might be a few slushy spots by the later races though.

Good luck tomorrow everybody, i have no excuses not to run well, im not sick or injured, feel fit and am 3kg lighter than allschools.
I don't care where i finish, top 10 would be nice tho  :)

On the money Lyonsy. Really solid run by Pat, 4th overall and 1st in School Sport section. Had to laugh when they came through to start their last lap and the commentator said something like, "In 4th place is errrrrr....Pat Smith of Tasmania.....ummmm...never heard of him....but good run though." Always good to see some unknowns pop up, keeps things interesting  :Talking Ear Off:

Some other really good runs by Tasmanian athletes considering it was by far the smallest team at the meet.

Well done everyone that turned up over the weekend. It was a great carnival.
There were some fantastic results, not just for Victorians, but other states as well.
My AWD didn't place, but thoroughly enjoyed himself, and ran over a minute faster than at the Vics.
Well done to WC - assisting his friend around the course and then having to back up again for his race as a state rep.
As for my race, well I didn't get lapped, which was good. I finsihed 3rd last, which I suppose officially makes me the 3rd worst runner in the country.    :Talking Ear Off:

Well done on your supporting efforts too.

Btw, we did miss you at BRT, a beaut day for steeple, with not a sign of frost on the rails.

A post alleging cheating, naming a particular runner, has been removed, as well as further discussion of the matter. This is not the place to make potentially libellous statements. Any such allegations should be addressed to the sporting body that administers the particular races. They have email.
