Channel 9 have informed me that they will be re-running the City to Surf Special this Sunday 5th Sept at 1pm with sound.

The C2S special that went to air today had some different footage to the original last Sunday. Extra footage included a couple of funny remarks by Rob, the ambulance driver and a not funny comment from me. It was nice to hear what Cooops said in his interview.

Cheers Andy

Hey Team,

My first ever post here, was just reading all the dramas with the Half Marathon race with interest.

I myself was also in the mix up! I was following the lead pack, and as we ran past the turn off to Kings Park, i knew we were supposed to turn in there, but being new to racing i could not bring myself to trust my knowledge, and thought maybe there was a late change to the course....

Then about 400m further along, a few of us decided we were going the wrong way and to turn around, so we turned back and ran the 400m back to Kings Park, only to get there and be stopped by officials telling us we had it right the first time and to go back the other way, i stood there for what seemed like a minute, (was prob only a few seconds!) before heading the way i knew and went through Kings Park.

When we got right down to the bottom of Kings Park and done a U turn to run back up park drive, i seen the Kenyans coming down the road, and then right in front of me they turned around about 1/4 of the way down, and headed up again, to make up for lost time....

The whole race organising was a shambles, but still was happy enough with the end result. Done a PB by 1:20 even though i covered an extra 800m...

How tough is this half course compared to others in Australia? I see the times of previous years are still slower than say the Melbourne Half, is it the quality is lower or because our hills are a lot tougher?

hills in Perth C2S ARE a heap tougher than what you encounter in most Half races...

interesting to read your report, must have been horrible to have all that indecision about correct course, and to have officials telling you the wrong thing and lead cyclist going the wrong way and all the time knowing it was probably the wrong way. well done on sticking at it.

quality in Melbourne and Sydney probably slightly better than in Perth, and especially depth...but hills a major factor as well in this case...

Interesting reading on this year's C2S.

I missed it completely this year due to being up north.

From what I've read, and from my experience at last year's event, tips I have taken onboard for next year:

Do the marathon - starts earlier, so not so hot and no one gets in the way.
Carry my own water/gels - couldn't be stuffed fighting with 40 000 people for a drink, either during the race or at the end.
Walk to/from the event (I live in Subiaco).
Don't bother hanging around - grab a bag and shirt, and just nick off. Although, if I'm walking home, and don't have to worry about collecting bags, or fighting for a post-race drink, I can probably hang around and cheer others on for awhile.

Yep. That's my plan of attack for C2S 2011. Now all I need is to find a group I can train with for a sub 3:30 finish. Anyone know of such a group??

Why don't you hop on the sub 3.30 bus for the Perth marathon? Dave and Stella Henderson do a terrific job with that one and you can use that training for C2S if that's your goal.
