Do you happen to know what time the races start ? particularly the 10.4 km race.

I may go along - not sure. My 4 yr old daughter is fascinated with volcanoes and I have been telling her about the blue lake for some time so this could be a nice way to show her the blue lake and also fit in a run.

I grew up in Mount Gambier before moving to Adelaide when I was 17. It's a great place. Did the 10km race in 1992. Good to see they still hold it, although now I think it is three laps of the Blue Lake. Not easy, but good fun. Good luck Simlin.

Thankfully it is only two laps Crowpower. I am not sure when the last time this was run...possibly 1992? Where are all the Mount CRs...dingoonthetrot? Bianca?

Used to live in a house that backed onto the Blue Lake. It was Sir Robert Helpmann's house at some stage.

Ah I missed all this. Turns out I had a hens weekend in Adelaide on the same weekend, not even in town when an event happens here. Next year, next year.
Looked like it was a lot of fun! Starting up a hill is pure evil though.

What a great event! I'm so glad I made the trip down for the weekend.
All up just over 1000 people took part and 303 in the 10.4km event. I was pretty stoked I managed to pull off a better time than I did in the Glenelg Classic and finished 5th out of the chickies!
We pre-ran the Blue Lake loop on the Saturday so we knew what we were in for. The course had the right amount of ups and downs and while the uphill start was tough the downhill finish was awesome!
I had so much fun that I even wrote the organisers a letter congratulating them on their fantastic effort. (The Glenelg Classic organisers could certainly learn something from them!)
CRs from SA and VIC should all try to attend next year - I can't wait!

T'was a beautiful day for a run and very nice to be running on "closed" roads, a luxury which is harder and more expensive to achieve in Adelaide.
Despite running the 10.4km pushing my 14kg one year old in the pram, I still managed a time of 59:41, which I was very happy with. The undulations were workable, but the headwind on the first lap of the lake up that first longer up made it really tough, so much so that I found the second lap easier because the wind had dropped a bit...people without the sail area of a pram probably didn't even notice the wind.
Congratulations to Darrilyn from Life Be In It on a great event and thanks to the OPAL innitiative and the City of Mount Gambier for putting it on.

Really enjoyed this run! The organisation of the event was outstanding and with roads closed and over a thousand participants and DAG timing definately a must for next year for those who missed out this year.
