Hey Kevin,
Thanks to you and the 6FT team for the great work getting it all to this point. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly tomorrow morning.
At the risk of sounding like a complete moron, can I ask for a clarification please? The detailed entry procedures state "All entries will be online via our entry page." Can I assume that there'll be a link to this "entry page" from the "2011 Race Info" page? And/or is there still an intention to email everyone on the newsletter list a link? Normally I'd be happy enough to search around till I found it, but given how quick places are likely to fill tomorrow morning...
Thanks Kevin,
Vince

I specifically asked Kevin to remove the link until we deactivate system. We have kept it in 'testing' mode to give us as much opportunity to look for any areas where options are confusing etc.
We don't want people clicking on the link yet or making test regos. There is no point in doing so until we go 'live' at 9am tomorrow.
VinceP, on Dec 7 2010, 01:00 PM, said:
Yes, that was made clear in the email on Sunday night. Once we have the system 'deactivated' we can give you the link so you can bookmark it - i.e. you can click on it but not able to do anything until we 'activate' it at 9am.
I have also made every endeavour to have all the info I feel you may have doubts about on the website, the step by step detailed online instructions, the emailed newsletters etc.
I won't be inclined to respond to any email or CR post that enquires about something for which the information is clearly on the website or been given in newsletters. Please make sure you check there first.
I get a lot of emails (and will get much more tomorrow), for which the information enquired has been given.
Good luck.

As for me, tested the system, signed up for the emails, alarm set for silly o clock to ensure I am in the office by 7:45 Brisbane time!
Now time to put away the fat fingers and hope I am one of the lucky 320.
Hopefully this time tomorrow I will be singing "Ive got a golden ticket"

Thanks for the clarification(s). You guys are doing a great job under trying circumstances. If only there weren't so many of us keen to get entered in your great race.
Cheers,
Vince

Is it:
-Shut down at 900 or 950 entrants?(So, we all have to rush)
or is it open for 24 hours or more, so we don't crash the system in our rush?

-guaranteed runners will have entries open for 24hrs (reduced from 48hrs)
-novices have a quota and their entries will be closed when the quote is filled
-veterans have a quota and their entries will be closed when the quote is filled
So for most people there is still an advantage to be online at 9am.
The race director of course reserves the right to amend the procedure if we get an extraordinary number of runners in any one category to make it as fair as possible to all.

I have a team of performance test experts working for me right now and we only charge $2000 a day + GST, oh, and 1 free 6-foot entry
Only joking, I am 100% sure everything will be fine based on the way things have been handled thus far.

Was published before in an email to newsletter subscribers.
900 or 950 does not matter, that is only our back end managing of the numbers. The race limit is still 850. I don't think we will be publishing a 'counter' as last year. Creates too much drama.
I think 24 hrs is enough for system not too crash. At peak last year I think we got 200 in hour.
As Kevin said the Novices and non guaranteed vets are 24 hrs or less if their limit is reached. Guarantees have 24hrs irrespective of amount (subject to overall race limit of course).
Limit for novices is 320, provisional limit for 'non guaranteed vets' is 360 and 'expected' amount of guarantees is 220 = 900, if it goes higher then that's where our slack up to 950 comes into play and if lower then 'non guaranteed vets' are higher, so they could be say 410

I had the same problem - I kept trying to login with a little box flashing 'waitlist now availalbe' but I wasn't able to get on the waitlist somehow. Never mind, I first registered my hubby (we decided it was really his turn this year) as I didn't want him to miss out and then went back to regiseter myself on the off chance I could get in.
I can't imagine how much work it must have been for Colin to organise this scrum at 9am - good work on managing it as well as you have! For feedback, I kept trying the link from 9am but the website must have been a bit overloaded - it just wouldn't go through or timed out. When I did get on there were no probs for my first registration, and then the above problem for the next one.

I got stuck on page 2 of the registratrion for veteran. It told me again and again to enter a shirt size, but there was no shirt size field available.
I HATE when people don't test the software they are releasing, especially for something as important as this. I missed out.

The number of places for 1 to 4 finishes veterans is only known after the number of guaranteed entrants has been confirmed.
If you're one of the first 300 veterans then you have a very strong chance of getting in, but after that, things aren't so certain.

You will most likely get a receipt from ActiveNetwork that says
"Confirmed Entry". This is routine, indicating that you have
successfully registered but may not necessarily mean that you are an
accepted entrant under the entry limit. We will confirm this by bulk
email and will publish a list of entrants as soon as we can."

That's what I was thinking.
Either this race is going to be a phenomenal success, or the poor organisers are going to spend the next 2 months dealing with a truckload of withdrawals
I keep refreshing the registration page just in case there is a glitch

Absolutely spewing!!!! Tried to register three people this morning, one who is going for his 12th race in March. Was on ready at 9am, link didn't work for many minutes more, then it kept defaulting me to Guaranteed entrant (which I'm not) and wouldn't let me click anything else. While I'm stuffing around trying to change that setting, all the spaces have been fillled - even guaranteed entries for my mate - by 9:12am!
Update: now on waitlist.......mate will be doing 12th next year!

I got the entry page, added my details and then it got to the "activities" page and seemed to get stuck on the "Please select your race T-shirt or singlet preference" bit. I logged in on another computer and was told its already full. So now I gave no idea if I got in or not!
