Um RA, are you getting your own back for me missing kms a few weeks ago?  You've pushed me back down the list again and lost my kms.  LOL!
Oops sorry Koala! Well done at Tokyo. Recover well. Is it NZ soon?

Awesome work everyone!  I have truly enjoyed watching this post and adding in my own km's.  I had very rarely even done a 200km month and since 'joining' this have done well over 200km's for each of the months and even made it to 300kms in January.  Am in full taper mode now and it feels weird not to be running so much.  Hopefully it will pay off on the day.  Have an awesome run everyone!

Nice running everybody.  I finished off the month with 11 km's this afternoon.  Not quite as many k's as I had hoped for, but I feel like I'm ready!!

It is now raining in the mountains, and it is supposed to rain for another week, so I might put in a few laps at the pool in preparation for the Cox's!!!

I hope that everyone is feeling well and are enjoying the taper.

How is everyone traveling? Everyone has been a bit quiet this week. An easy 10k plus an easy day at home today. No injuries! I'm wishing this week away. Can't wait for raceday!

Taper is going well. No endurance work (nothing over 10km) and mainly speed work (with track, short commute to work & striders today). Going well & can't wait until the weekend. Was very happy with this mornings striders race. After doing very little true speed work over the summer the endurance work is starting to pay off for the shorter stuff as well when I ran just 8 seconds slower than my 10km PB.

Bring it on! (BTW if anyone is picking up your race packs at the Carrington between 1 and 6 then look for me as I will be volunteering. My name is Tim).

My biggest week was 58km 3 weeks ago so I'm no hope for this challenge. Still confident for the race though as my training started back in August aiming for Glenbrook at the time with no real intention of doing 6ft which seemed like a pipedream. Keen as, now though.
Good luck everyone.
Cheers,
Grahame

Hi all.  Tapering is going well.  Had a good run this morning - 10 km time trial with 3 minutes knocked off my PB.  Will do 8 km tomorrow, 5km on Tuesday and then a couple of very short easy jogs on Wednesday and Thursday, just to keep the legs moving.  I'm very excited about my first 6 foot - just hope the weather improves.  We had beautiful weather today, but it has started raining again this evening.  Not too much though - so hopefuly it will hold off for Saturday.

I hope that everyone else is going well and that you are all injury free!

Just 12k today. It was after the rain had stopped but there were lots of big puddles, so I practiced running in wet socks.

I've run very little in the last two weeks as I was starting to get op symptoms again. Seems to have settled down again fingers crossed. Still managed around 60k a week mainly walking but its all kms in the bank. Another 8k to hit the 1000k target :)

Glad to hear the injury is behaving itself Running Angel...

Does anyone else feel like it's been FOREVER since our last long run?  I know it was only a couple of weeks ago but the doubts are setting in... must be ready to race!

Came down with a sore throat last Wednesday night and it's still kicking around a bit but feeling much better.  At least it was last week and not this week :) Damn kids and their germs!!! ;)

Still managed 15km's on Saturday and didn't feel too bad.

Lots of talk about the rain, but just though I'd let you all know it's been glorious up here today - blue sky, hot and sunny :0)
But it is still VERY wet underfoot and the skies have clouded over tonight ( hopefully it will stay dry)

Also, I will be volunteering at the Carrington on Friday between 3 and 8pm so if you are collecting your race kit, then drop by and say hi.  I'm thinking I will wear my Running Wild buff for those of you who don't know me so you can recognize me.

It was also quite cool this morning in the upper mountains, the autumn chill was definately there, so bring something to stay warm at the start line.  I will be at the start line too (can't keep me away, it's the first time in 6 years that I've not been running it!!) and will also be hopefully down at the megalong road to cheer you all on and take photos.  I might take a trip to the river in the next days to see how things are looking - if I do, will let you all know the status.

Enjoy the taper and don't worry about race day. What will be, will be and today was very positive.

Last hard session done tonight. A simple intervals session. 2km warmup, 5 x 500m efforts (with a walk/jog back to the start) with a 2km cool down. Felt good.

Will do a slow 6km run to work on Wednesday and that will be it. Bring it on !

If you do get down to the river take a video and put up on youtube.
Will get a lot of hits.

I certainly hope to be there within that time frame so hope to see you there K1.  Sorry that I gave up on this thread everyone, but you have all done very well.  I am on track for a PW this Saturday and I can't wait.  So excited to just be there, catch up with everyone, and enjoy the trail for the 4th year in a row.

As mentioned before I will be there between 1 and 6 :). I will probably be wearing my CR Cap, but I suspect there will be others there with CR caps as well. Might have to tell them to put theirs away ;)

Just want to wish you all good luck for Saturday.  Ignore whatever is being said about Cox/s river - that's just 60 seconds max out of a 5 hour or so run.  And better than having a steaming hot day, or the mix of hot and then cold and wet we had last year.

Triathlon training progressing well for me - which basically means I haven't drowned or fallen off the bike yet :) but hope to come back and join the challenge next year as I feel I still have some unfinished business at 6ft.  Hope to be out on the trails again by W2B so may see some of you there.

Well gang, the time has come to lay it on the line.
After all the points are tallied, km's totalled, bets wagered, and slaps counted, it still all comes down to race day.
What's your goal? To just run and have fun? To try for a pb? Or do you have a specific time in mind? Perhaps you just want to beat a particular person!

I'll start.

I'm pretty sure you'll beat me. In fact, I think I'll be last among the 100 day threaders.

Goal time: I'll be very happy with 6:10

Not wearing a watch or aiming for any particular time. Having said that who knows what could happen and I may even manage a pb. Feeling pretty strong despite the recent setback, and doing a 6k pb at the 12 hour recently makes me confident that my endurance has got stronger, which bodes well for Black Range. If all goes well I am hopeful of something around 5.40-5.45

My goal is to stand at the Megalong road crossing (after having battled possible flooding of the creek by the Old Ford Reserve) and take as many photos of you all as you go through as possible.  Smile at the camera as you pass and if there is a 100k challenger in front ot you, slap that butt so I can get it on camera too!

Ponder and Logic - shall see you at the Carrington on friday!

To be honest I really don't know what I should be aiming at considering I have never run the track, a marathon and have two different qualifiers that convert to 5h30m (it's a soft qualifier) and 6:30.

So at the moment my best guess is between 6h and 6h15m but anywhere between 6h and 6h30m is realistic.

See many of you on friday!

Really just glad to be running this year, although I did shave 7 seconds off my 1.95k race around the lake PB on Tuesday so who knows.  I am thinking ~6 but if I see PeterPlodder in the last few km I will give a slap and come in before him.

Depending on how I go at 9am on December 15, I'll be in.

Managed to scrape a couple of 290 kilometre months this year, so it would be nice to have that final kick along to break the 300.

TheRev, if you wait until 15 Dec to start, you are going to find it a lot more challenging...

Surely it will just mean I am nice and fresh come Dec 15 and so I will cruise in the 20km a day for the rest of December?

Ok, maybe I will join the challenge on Dec 1, and quietly exit the forum with my tails between my legs if I miss out on entry in mid december.

Not doing 6FT next year but will prob still try for the 300k months in prep for Tarawera 100k the week after. Just coming back from calf injury so will be a good incentive

I will play along again this year. I won't hit December because I am racing Canberra Half Ironman on the 16th. But looking at Jan and Feb depending on how my feet go :)

So with 6FT being on the 9th this year, guess that means the challenge would start on Nov 29th??

Yes, the hundred days starts tomorrow, Nov 29.

Is it worth starting a new thread for this year? This thread is getting a bit unwieldy (48 pages!)

I'm back!

I have entered sixfoot and now back to the thread that started a string on PB's from 5k to marathon in 2011.

Confirming the rules/points system...

Maximum number of points achievable being 5...

>300k in Dec = 1 point
>300k in Jan = 1 point
>300k in Feb = 1 point
>1000k from 1 Dec to race day (100 days) = 2 bonus points

It is all about mileage - the k's can be slow, fast, hills, flats, trails, road - whatever you like. But please not walking to the shops or running for the bus.

Are we renaming it the 98 day challenge? Or the 14 week challenge?

Hi All, I am so in for this, being my first six foot and all (well that is the plan come the 15th) will need some extra kick along to keep me motivated esp. through the holiday break.

20k yesterday, in fairly humid conditions. So here's the tally so far for December:

PeterPlodder 20k

Also did 6k last Thursday (the first day of the challenge), but that only counts toward the overall 1000k
