Hi everyone!
I'm trying to get a new Perth 'beginners' running group set up for those just starting out. I've advertised on Gumtree, but I guess this would be more appropriate! I couldn't find any casual runners groups in Perth, so I thought I'd start my own!
There's no cost involved, it's just a get together of people who want to run shorter distances to get motivated, as well as meet new people.
We are still waiting to get more people to sign up, when we have a few more people we will kick it off.
There isn't really a website to join yet, if you are signed up on mapmyrun.com then you can join the group at http://www.mapmyrun....e/groups/27268/ but it isn't a requirement. As long as I have some form of contact with everyone.
The routes we plan will be available to view on this website and I will organise a meeting point each run. The first run will probably be arranged in King Park just to make it more central for everyone, but the runs after that will vary north or south and we will try to keep it interesting each time and try to give people the opportunity to come along no matter where in Perth they live.
We can even have a little social event before/after the runs to get to know each other more.
So far we only have 3 people (including myself) who have joined. I'm hoping to get at least a few more before organising the first run. Heck, you don't even have to be a beginner to join! The more the merrier. People of all ages, genders and backgrounds welcome.
Hope to hear from some of the coolrunners!
Thanks guys.

Sounds great Loop. Unfortunately evenings are pretty inflexible for me so may not make one but feel free to come along to our first saturday in the month runs. Generally it's a group of 1-12 running 5k followed by breakfast, location varies much the same as you propose. Would be a good chance to meet some other runners who may be able to make the evening runs.
Check it out in the CR Community section, not sure if it is updated but next months run is at Burns Beach..

Loopthe loop,
Mind if I piggy-back your thread and ask if anyone fast wants to train with me south of the river they PM me.
Most successful runners over many generations have trained in groups. (Bannister, Prefontaine,Kenyans, Ethiopians, Bideau group.
Sub 80min half or better runners. Further south the better too.

Hi Looptheloop,
I just saw your message and am very interested in joining your running group.
Are you still doing this and recruiting new team members?
Thanks

Hi RunWithTheWind,
I get the feeling that that running group never took off, going by the lack of response to your post. Did you find another running group?
If so, who with and how has it been? If not, are you still looking for someone to run with?
I'm new to Perth and planning to do the marathon as part of the City to Surf in August, and keen to find someone to run with.
Thanks
