Hey Animal.

Check out the Darwin Runners and Walkers club on the net. They meet every Wednesday around 6pm for a run/race vairous from 2k to 6k most nights.

Otherwise head to Nightcliff for a run as the forshore there is a great place to run bout 5k one way and should have distance markings on the track. If your into somthing a bit longer you can always head from city to nightcliff Via mindal beach, and back all along bike paths near the water or head out to LEE POINT if you are looking for a bit of trail running its no technical all easy dirt bike paths through some subtropical rainforest.

Enjoy it up there but be carefull of the heat. There is water along  all of nightcliff path but it is a bit scarce out near lee point.

Have fun mate.

Oh also there is the Darwin Tri club they have a race on every other sunday at lake alexander.

Enjoy

The Darwin Running Club regularly meets only on a wedneday.

If youre staying in the city, just follow the coastal strip(western) from the Waterfront by the Port of Darwin to the north in Lee Point. In between is Fannie Bay which you can take a detour to East Point Reserve. From Fannie Bay you have to take Dick Ward Drive as there is no running track to Nightcliff. From Nightcliff, there is a shortcut through Rapid Creek mangroves which leads to the rear of Charles Darwin Uni. This will lead you to Dripstone Cliffs, Casuarina Beach and Surf Lifesaving Club, a nude Beach then up to Lee Point. You can start/finish in any of these areas. Most runners I saw were in Waterfront and Bicentennial Park in the city and in Nightcliff Beach.  Beware of crocodiles along Rapid Creek(no joke).
Water taps in Bicentennial Park, Fannie Bay and Nightcliff Beach.

Anyone in Darwin at the moment, make sure to look out for Beck Myors as she runs from Darwin to Adelaide. I heard her on Darwin ABC radio this morning as she was just about to start her run. Me and Crewbie (along with the junior Timbo and Crewbie) are going to be crewing for her for 2 weeks from the start of May.

Hey Team!

So I've just moved from Melbourne to Darwin and have been here two days and desperate need of good running track and running clubs in Darwin as well as Triathlon clubs based in Darwin. Now coming from Melbourne which is full of running groups and triathlon training squads as well as my fav running tracks Im hoping that Darwin will at least have one ! I have Gold Coast Half in 5 weeks and then I'll be taking two weeks off to train for Melbourne Marathons and triathlons ! If there is anybody out there that is from Darwin and knows of a good running club (and I'm not talking 3km runs I'm looking for good long runs) then please let me know ASAP if I can't find one and there isnt one out there and there is others Darwin runners out there that would like to have one then get in touch with me and I would be more then happy to start one !!!!

Cheers :)
Oh also if your doing the Darwin City 2 Surf let me know and we can do some training runs :)

Welcome! youve arrived at a great time of year - humidity has finally gone so lots of running hours ahead
There is a runners club (darwinrunners.com.au i think) but mostly short runs with the occasional longer one.
I think like the majority of NT runners I train solo... also, I live in Palmerston (and run early morning) so it seems to work for me.

Have you singed up for C2S yet? its a great little event and usually gets a good turnout 9as far as the NT goes). there is also a half mara mid year (ABC half) - july i think.

I have just come back from Great ocean road 45 and hoping to get up for next Sunday.. then Melbourne in Oct.

Where are you living? it might make it a bit easier to suggest a few spots..

Are there any regular long runs in and around Darwin? I will be holidaying up there from 23 June - 4 July and wouldn't mind joining in on anything that's organised up there. I'm a Darwin girl originally but haven't lived there for a very long time! I still visit regularly as I have an enormous family up there lol.
