Forecast for Thursday
Katoomba Rain at times. Min15 Max22

Forecast for Friday
Katoomba Few showers. Min14 Max19

Hopefully all showers gone by Saturday morning.

Might help the sand pebbles up Mini Mini. Could have a few puddles along Black Range and be a bit slippery down Nellies.

Good racing conditions, although tends to suit the fasties more. I was hoping for something a little hotter.

Me too Bunny. I have managed to get the chills a few times along the black ranges in previous years. I guess I will just have to run faster :clapping:

I was up there last weekend. At the top of the Black Ranges, there was cloud cover and slight rain. It was also bloody cold too!

Latest info is 90% chance of rain on Thursday and Friday  both at Katoomba and Jenolan Caves, so a soggy track to run on. Saturday 40% chance of rain. Tepm range Katoomba 13 to 23 and Jenolan Caves 11 to 22. Minimal wind, high UV, but the good news no frost risk.

Good luck to all

I'm sure you will have them all cleared, G, before most of us get to the bottom!

sounds great except for the leeches! Anyone have an idea if Cox's river will be higher or lower than it was for the Fatass Megalong mega run a month or so ago?? My first 6ft so not too sure..

Can't say compared to Megalong Mega- wasn't there- but according to RFS at last night's volunteer briefing "it is low-ish". I can't see the 'showers' in next day or two lifting that. Remember 90% 'chance' is just the probability of showers , but it is still just 'showers'

Some of us are not as beautifully slim as others so tend to feel the heat more.

Unfortunately I will not be enjoying the ideal running conditions as I have a groin strain and have had to pull out.

Good luck everybody and hope to see lots of pbs.

Yep, can also confirm that one.  Leeches are out in force down there this year.

But hopefully they will have grabbed a ride on the faster runners and by the time I get there, will all have gone.

Sorry to hear you've had to pull out GraeGrae - hopefully you will still be coming to the end though?

Whats wrong with leeches ?  Civilisations older and greater than ours have made good use of them !

You forgot Goannas, Black Snakes, Cockatoos, Kangaroos, Cattle and Cow pats. Plus the Black range has a nasty supply of drop bears just near the Deviation hills.

Good luck Frosty you should run a cracker of a race.

Thing that scares me most is the Cramp Bears along the Black Range, buggers attacked me 4 or 5 times along there last year.

Don't forget the bunyips, I hear there's been a couple spotted in previous years!

I wish the cramp bears only visited me 4 or 5 times Arfa.  My hammys both grabbed me while crossing the Cox's.  Although it could've been worse. A girl behind me nearly started blowing bubbles :)  Cramps accompanied me for the rest of the race more-or-less.  Either I had one, was working one out or getting another one.  No part of my legs or groin escaped without them :(  Certainly put a dampener on my desire to kick on once past the Pluvi.  I hadn't planned on a fast or even reasonable time due to some injury issues but after a steady climb up to Pluvi I could've done without seeing so many backs of runners going past me.  There's always next year - maybe.

P.S. - Weather was great once we got through the warm, humid patch around Megalong Valley Rd.  Even the storm and cold rain up on Black Range was welcome.  Not so sure about the mud though.
