How can a slow-Asian dude like me even keep up with a Big-Strong-tough-Stout-Aggressive-Endurance English man like yourself.
No no, I wouldn't even dream...I am even contemplating to retire a race if you are in it. Cos If I run, I am just embarrassing myself...During CP Ultra, I was so Scared I even Sh1t myself!
Throwing in the towel for 2012 now..
Look (see attached) - I was looking up to you like a super Hero at the finishing line...
Sorry Brick, but Dan is my New Hero now.....

I think the BB Race Director is likely to require that you list ALL of the lessons learnt first....
Sort of like the Public self admonishment (humiliation ritual) that the Public Security Bureau in China require you to do...

are you proposing an entry criteria DJB??
the pretenders Burglar and I'll be back - we'll have to rev up the big Sub - you'd be lost without us.
Anyone heard from the Hot Rod? or is he still comatoze from the few hundred beers he took home.

More bush running, less rest and 45km might be shorter than 100 but not by much.
Also one more lesson. Never give up. You might think you are last and shite but then you come across Sarge and TT and see what shite looks like. Sorry boys !!

If you take my last marathon split at C2K it would be closer to 7 hours.

Come on mate, play fairly please..
Ran 40 k in Royal National Park with Terry yesterday and we discussed yr 6 foot potential if you trained specific.
we agreed sub 4 was probable.
Or should I mention 3minute 20 1 k repeats?
Anyway,
I am def in for 2012 BB and will also predict I beat Dan.
Side bet on it Dan? no trash talk required...

Id like to be in the beer bet again next year. Just one suggestion though, can we not have a picture of Walshy on the back of the shirts this time please?

Ian - you're way too much of a smokey to be playing around with us hacks. Your 3:06 at Fitzroy Falls should see that you don't get into wave 2 and hang out with us losers. Go and play with the real athletes.

think it was a 3.09 and that was purely because I met Mick Miles for the first time and rather than having to listen to his dribble for 40km i thought i would dart ahead to get a bit of peace. if im not eligable for wave 2 how about a wave 1 beer bet? any takers?

Ian, Ian, Ian,
We have had this chat before! You seem a nice enough guy, but most of us, would involuntarily fall behind the said Mick when he starts to dribble on, and Mick in any event would never voluntarily fall behind anyone, dribble or not!
On the other hand, for any of us wannabees that catch up and get past you, would indeed be a wondrous thing, and in and of itself see us becoming beer bet immortals.
Perhaps we should create a 'catch the hare' trifecta, as the ultimate beer bet prize. In order of priority:
1. win beer bet +
2. break beer bet record time +
3. catch the hare (name your hare: Mick or Slowmaniac or anyone (like Ian) that regularly beats either of them and / or is in Wave 1...)

Brick, buckle year for me too. I can see an early match-up forming already.
I'm definitely in for 2012 BB. Thinking about changing my CR name to "Unfinished Business" - seems to be how I feel after every major race.

- Sub 3 road and sub 4:30 6ft criteria will not change.
- Bet will stay within W2. We get too cute with add ons, it gets more complicated.
- Will loosen the criteria to the year prior for runners as opposed to 3 years (come back Mick, Walshy and Terry)
- Will tighten up the uncertainty of W2 and W3. 5:20 was the benchmark this year, so you will need to have 5:17-5:20 qualifier to guarantee a W2 start. If you are a 6ft virgin I will get benchmarks for various races that will have you within W2 qualifying standard. You should still be able to use your best time in last 3 years for a wave start, so bad results this year shouldnt exclude runners.
- Smokies will be screened out. We want genuine runners that aspire for sub 4:30, not runners that can do it on their ear.
- Will send out email to all previous beer bettors in October to secure spots.
- Come November, will resurrect the thread for fresh talent and they will fill remaining spots. This makes a good talking point leading into race registration on 01/12.
- Maximum numbers of 34-36. This allows for a bit of attrition to race day.
- Entertaing posters that liven up the thread is what we love. I love a big talking runner that puts it on the line and is willing to crash and burn.
Nothing too complicated or different from this year.

I was definitely a disgrace to the BB in 2011. Was on target for sub 5 at the halfway point. However, spewed my guts up just after Pluvi and everything fell apart. It just got worse and worse.
I might drop back to W3 next year and have a good hard look at myself.

That's the best news I have had in years.
To be part of the great event again is something I have been dreaming about all year.
Since being ineligible my life has been a journey of cream tarts, french fries and lots of beer.
Thanks Rod for a reason to go on, to push forward with the knowledge that I too could be lucky enough to hold the golden stubbie trophy aloft.
Dreams can come true afterall.
ok now to shed those 7kg's and get ready to kick some ass!!!

One of the pleasing aspects of this year's BB was the fact that people dug deep into their own pockets and we managed to get a nice wad of cash together... one of our primary goals should be to try and raise more and more each year. We do a lot of talking, but we should also do more to fund-raise where we can too.

True DJB agree the teams were a great idea we should pursue in 2012.
I'm not too sure about teams for the fundraising though - as a collective we're much stronger and we all came together for this result. in 2012 we'll kick off the fund raising much earlier.
2012 - Need to have a manned collection bucket at race check in at the Carrington - was kicking myself on Friday evening. this would have doubled the funds....
