Online entries are now open at www.citytocasino.com.au

There has been a slight course change this year - turning left from Sandy Bay Rd just past St Ives into Quayle St then along Marieville Esp to Wrest Point. See the course map online for details.

Cheers
Shelley

I'll be there for my third try. Hopefully the course change might help me finally get under the 50mins!

didn't like the new finish through the backstreets of battery point/sandy bay.. lots of 90 degree/sharp turns, lots of bottlenecks trying to force way through walkers 5 abreast, couldn't see how far to the finish, running over sidewalks and roads, threading around parked cars.. Ughh.. please go back to the old route!

I agree with snobol. I was about 30m from the lead going through the new section, and it made it very hard on both grant and myself as he would have to go wide and i would catch up, then i would lose a second forcing my way through joggers, and i wasn't sure how far i had left. I love the race though, the only other negative for me is the near impossibility to run through Lower domain road, which even puts the 7km walkers safety in trouble as sometimes it is very hard to avoid running into someone at 20km/h.

I appreciate your feedback and we will incorporate that in our response to the Police, particularly the safety concerns. Unfortunately the course change was a mandatory requirement of the race going ahead this year as the Police will not allow the race to continue through Sandy Bay any more due to the number of complaints from residents and businesses in the area. Some more public support would be appreciated!

There's definately an issue across the state with councils and the police making life hard for iconic events.

-City to Casino forced route changes.
-Womens 5km Launceston changing start to 1pm due to church complaints.
-Run the Bridge starting at about 7am to access the roads.

Would the number of complaints out weigh the participants?

I'm very keen to expose this further in an article on my site www.tasendurance.com . Anyone who's keen to pass on some info, post it up!
