So this Friday I'm having an impacted wisdom tooth extracted with just a local.
Will I be right to run hard a 10k race on Sunday? Or am I underestimating the recovery time?... i dont want to be spitting blood around the course

When I had my wisdom tooth out I was running the next day without any problems.

Every wisdom tooth extraction has to be treated as an individual event, Some people will have no problems at all. Others may have significant problems. Your best bet is to ask your dentist but even then it may be only a best guess. He/she will almost always recommend to be be safe and give up the run or at least take it very easy as pushing hard increases blood pressure and may cause bleeding or additional swelling.
If you don't follow the advice, at least be fair and don't blame the dentist if you have problems.

Amen to Wedgetail's advice.
It's an individual thing. But err on the side of caution. Far better to miss a race than get an infection and be laid up for much longer.
I had two teeth out not long ago and it knocked me about; so much so that I decided to DNS in the Coburg 24hour, which was to have been one of my most important races this year.
Ther's always next year. As a friend of mine said "Don't play silly buggers with your teeth - it'll come back to bite you (pun intended)".

My dentist wanted to extract a wisdom tooth three days before Glasshouse 50. I rescheduled. It's those niggly things that detract from your race - blisters, last night's booze, an oncoming cold... A tooth extraction might just tip it over the edge.

Thanks for the feedback, guess I will err of the side of caution regardless of how I may feel in the morning.

Better to be cautious. I didn't listen when I had mine out and ended up with dry socket - really painful stuff. Dentist explained that the increase in blood pressure means the empty socket doesn't 'knit together' properly (i.e. heal) and causes problems.
Use an ice pack (on and off) for the first 24 hours and it shouldn't swell or bruise.

i made sure not to do anything for a good 3 or 4 days. Simply because i didnt enjoy the idea of running on antibiotics (that, and the fact that each side had a wisdom tooth + a premolar removed)
In most cases, its fine, as they advise a period of only 48 hours of no activities involving a higher heart rate

+1 day, and there's no way I would be running today, unless I was being chased by a lion.
Swelling is ok, as I iced it as per Whippet gal suggested.
Very doubtful I would make it tomorrow to the race.
