Anyone who likes to read about trail as much as they love to run them, should point their mouse and clicking finger toward http://trailrunnerma...press.com/zine/ come this Sunday (July3).
The first, long awaited (by us at least) edition is about to go live online, all grassroots-like as a pdf download. We'll progress from there, but from small things...
The birth took a little longer than expected, apologies, but we're chuffed that there is now a dedicated trail running magazine for Australia and NZ.
As a mark of respect, I'd like to note that we're not the first to trudge this path. A damn fine little publication by the name BYOS (By Your Own Steam) came out as a pdf download a few years back, but alas ran out of steam, through no fault of its entrepreneurial and hard working creator. Kudos to BYOS for blazing a trail.
We're hoping to surpass its two editions and even, with community support, get the odd Collector Combined Edition out (maybe twice a year) in print. We may live in a digital age, but sometimes a tactile mag in your hand is worth two on the Net.
Hoping I haven't overstepped the mark in letting everyone know on this forum, but thought trail runners may like to know we exist. And for now it's FREE - so not like we're selling anything
Get a feel for us by reading a sneak peek editorial from the Australian Editor (me) www.trailrunnermag.wordpress.com. The NZ Ed Mal Law has his words in the actual edition, plus there's
- Beau Mile's AAWT run
- Andy Hewat's Great Dividing Trail run plus his column on pulling off the AAWT
- Nick Wienholt's Ten things I learned Running The North Face 100, Twice
- Mt Solitary race report
- Glasshouse preview
- Mal Law's 2010 7in7 run
- Lisa Tamati on tackling the Himalaya
- Young NZ trail gun Kris Day
- The Track
- Gear reviews and Shoe Reviews
- Nutrition
- Medic - Runner's Knee
- Trail Guides x 4
and plenty more...
Hopefully you'll enjoy. You'll also notice that while we originally were Trail Running Mag, we have shortened to Trail Run Mag to avoid confusion and lawsuits.
Thanks for reading
