I know it's cloudy and raining in Sydney the moment, but it's sunny and 21 up the mountains today right? RIGHT?!
Still planning on heading up to do the downhill leg whatever the weather though

Ditto Garth. Had flu all week, but went for a swim this morning and seem to have come good. Planning to be there for the downward leg. Will be jockeying with the sweeps at the back of the pack.
Late train leaves around 9:15 right or wrong??? Will be parking my car down at the gates and running back up to the station.

Having spent the day on the River with the gnomes artistic division, watching the rolling clouds tumble across the great dividing range in front of me. My thoughts were filled with the joy that can only be found on spring night under full moon by pace of foot. The mountains call with another tremendous Dumphy inspired night ahead. Don't let the fear of weather delay your opportunity for experience. Enjoy

T'was a marvellous night for a moon dance. Well, when we got off the nice warm train into the near sub zero temps, it didn't feel like it. There was a short discussion about getting on the next rain down the hill and heading to the nice warm Lappo..... But as soon as we started running, it was beautiful. Running at night has its own magic, you can't see the scenery (or the hills for that matter, so there is a lot of sound and smell (and for me, a focus was staying upright). Kilometers flew away and at one stage I remember thinking, this will all be over soon. And then later, when my hips and knees and other bits and pieces were protesting, I was thinking, I HOPE this will be over soon. We decided on the trail that running is like childbirth and as soon as it is over, you forget the pain and the euphoria kicks in. Highlight of the night was watching a rather accomplished runner showcase his firelighting skills, and the resultant warmth that followed. Really nice to meet Beth, Garth and Jason, and see the Bens and VStar again. Thank you Scam for organising this once again.

As always it was a tremendous night for running under a near full moon on the oaks fire trail last night. The clearing sky's enabling the street lights of Sydney to illuminate the distance as the rolling climbs of the first 12km or so ticked by. With around 15 people spread across the early starters up and backers and late train runners. The oaks was abundant in foot prints laid into its dry firm surface.
Personally, pleasant conversations discussing potential new projects were had with Rodthehornet and vstaR. Company making the run all the more enjoyable. Then as we arrived up hill to the rangers hut and pay station, a circle of warmth. Already well constructed and issuing its warmth to those surrounding drew me in and kept me present well into the early hours of the morning. A decision perhaps not fully considered till 5:35am when the 10mth old indicated her readiness for conversation.
All up another great night out for W2G 2011. For those kept indoors for a variety of reasons I encourage you to join us in 2012 for a very pleasing jaunt indeed.

T'was great and just love these night runs. No chance of stopping any time cause the nights chill, the light breeze coupled with the sweaty clothes soon jaulted you to keep moving just to stay warm. Ran the first lap out with B2orB1 with GaterBullant & vstaR closely followed behind. Perfect timing getting into Woodford Station as we only had to wait 10min before the W2G pack arrived by train. Return run was more casual for me as I felt that B2orB1 had paced me a tad fast on the way up. With a very thin cloud cover of haze over the near full moon, most managed to run the track not needing the head light. Those last 3km did get tough but the thought of the finish line and the expectant warm fire and drinks made that last climb to the hut much easier. Looking forward to next years run.
